Ciers Completes Rollout of 'Think' at Samsung Seoul Hospital... Solidifying Its Position as the Market Leader in Patient Monitoring [Exclusive to Edaily]

[Edaily Reporter Song Young-doo] #Ciers has signed a contract with Samsung Seoul Hospital, one of Korea’s leading medical institutions, to supply its inpatient monitoring platform, “thynC.” As the AI-based patient monitoring market begins to take off in earnest, securing partnerships with top-tier general hospitals is emerging as a key factor that will determine future market dominance. Industry observers assess that Ciers, having secured Samsung Seoul Hospital following Asan Medical Center and Seoul National University Hospital, has taken the lead in the race to dominate the market.

According to a comprehensive report by E-Daily’s pharmaceutical and biotech premium content service, Pharm E-Daily, on the 1st, Ciers’ AI-based inpatient monitoring platform, thynC, was recently introduced at Samsung Seoul Hospital and has begun operations. Installation has been completed for approximately 30 beds, primarily in the cardiology ward, and it has also been implemented in the VIP ward. There is also speculation that the platform may be expanded to general wards depending on actual operational results.

An official from Samsung Seoul Hospital stated, “We established and opened smart patient rooms within the hospital last month. The AI inpatient monitoring platform ‘Think’ has been installed in these rooms.”

Samsung Seoul Hospital, a leading tertiary general hospital in Korea with approximately 2,000 beds, opened these smart patient rooms last April as part of its transition to a smart hospital. The smart patient rooms are central to the hospital’s patient-centered digital transformation, with “Think”—which enables real-time monitoring of patient conditions via wearable devices and provides personalized medical services—regarded as a key component.

Based on wearable biosensors and AI analysis technology, ‘Think’ collects and analyzes key vital signs—including ECG, pulse, and oxygen saturation—in real time. It is an inpatient monitoring solution that immediately alerts medical staff when abnormal signs occur and enables continuous, real-time monitoring of patient conditions.

From Seoul Asan to Samsung Seoul Hospital… Ciers Leads the Way with References from Tertiary General Hospitals

The market views securing contracts with tertiary general hospitals as a key factor in determining future market share. This is because tertiary general hospitals undergo the most rigorous validation processes in the medical field, and solutions validated there tend to spread rapidly to general hospitals and smaller medical institutions.

In particular, the industry views the expansion of supply to the “Big 5” hospitals, which began late last year, as a significant turning point. The market sentiment itself has shifted as the most influential medical institutions in Korea have begun to recognize the company’s technological capabilities. When a single large hospital decides to adopt a solution, the barriers to adoption for other hospitals are significantly lowered. Given the nature of the healthcare field, it is common practice to refer to the operational cases and clinical data of leading hospitals.

An industry official stated, “Since the inpatient monitoring market is still in its early stages, competition based on reference cases is just as important as technological competition,” adding, “The Big 5 hospitals, in particular, play a role in setting market standards.”

Ciers is already regarded as leading the way in the tertiary hospital market. Think is currently in use at the Internal Medicine Ward of Asan Medical Center, clinical wards at Seoul National University Hospital, and Gangbuk Samsung Medical Center, and has now been added to Samsung Medical Center. Sinchon Severance Hospital has completed a demo test and is reviewing a contract. In effect, the company has either entered or is on the verge of entering most of the major tertiary hospitals that represent the domestic medical community.

In fact, the cumulative number of hospitals adopting Think has surpassed 30, and it is reported that the company secured approximately 3,000 additional beds in early this year alone. Industry analysts suggest that the “Big 5” hospital reference effect is now fully taking hold.
Synergy with mobiCARE… Accelerating Expansion into the Middle East and U.S. Markets
When combined with mobiCARE, a wearable ECG analysis solution, Ciers’ competitive edge is further strengthened. mobiCARE has been adopted by 42 of the 47 tertiary general hospitals nationwide, and the cumulative number of arrhythmia diagnoses and prescriptions is reported to have exceeded 700,000. The industry believes that the large-scale hospital network established through mobiCARE is having a positive impact on the expansion of the inpatient monitoring platform, thynC.

The value of these references from tertiary general hospitals is not limited to the domestic market. It is reported that Ciers’ experience operating in South Korea’s tertiary general hospitals served as a key competitive advantage during its recent collaboration with PureHealth, the largest healthcare group in the UAE. According to industry sources, medical fees in the UAE are up to four times higher than in South Korea, and the unit price for bed-based patient monitoring services is estimated to be two to three times higher than in South Korea.

Recently, Mobicare submitted its final documentation for U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) 510(k) clearance to enter the U.S. market and expects to receive approval in the third quarter. Mobicare is a wearable patch-based ECG analysis solution that uses AI-driven analysis to diagnose and analyze signs of arrhythmia. It is currently used in approximately 1,000 medical institutions in South Korea, and the cumulative number of arrhythmia diagnoses has exceeded 700,000. This is considered to represent the largest volume of reference cases and ECG data in South Korea’s wearable AI ECG analysis sector.

Ciers has been preparing in advance—including collaborating with local medical partners and distribution channels and establishing a service operation model—to ensure it can enter the U.S. market immediately upon obtaining FDA approval. As a result, the company expects to be able to launch operations immediately after approval, without any additional preparation period. If sales begin in the third quarter of this year following approval, it will become the first South Korean patient monitoring company to enter the U.S. market.

Industry observers note that the company’s technological capabilities, validated at leading Korean tertiary hospitals, are serving as a strong foothold for entering high-margin overseas markets. In particular, references from major tertiary hospitals, including Samsung Seoul Hospital, are expected to serve as a key asset in enhancing credibility not only in the Middle East but also during the process of entering the U.S. market.

In fact, Ciers posted its best-ever financial results in the first quarter of this year, with revenue of 32.5 billion won and operating profit of 13.9 billion won. Given that the company’s business model is structured such that profitability improves as bed-based recurring revenue expands, analysts note that its expansion strategy centered on tertiary general hospitals is directly driving earnings growth.
