[Edaily Reporter Park Jeong-soo] SMAC, a company specializing in semiconductor equipment and robotic automation, announced on the 4th that Chairman Choi Young-seop and CEO Kwon Oh-hyuk each purchased the company’s shares on the open market. Chairman Choi purchased 86,280 shares, while CEO Kwon purchased 43,470 shares.
This on-market purchase was made based on the assessment that the recent stock price does not fully reflect the company’s business value and mid-to-long-term growth potential. SMAC is responding to the demand for advanced manufacturing by securing semiconductor-specialized machine tools, collaborative robots, automation solutions, and industrial ICT infrastructure as its core growth drivers.
In particular, semiconductor-specialized machine tools are a sector where orders have been rapidly expanding recently, and they are essential equipment for semiconductor manufacturing processes. SMAC is expanding its scope of application within the semiconductor industry based on its high-precision machine tool technology. Collaborative robots are also emerging as a mid-to-long-term growth driver, in line with the growing demand for automation and unmanned operations in manufacturing sites.
The ICT Division is responsible for the industrial network and data infrastructure required to implement Physical AI. SMAC possesses a technology base that encompasses devices, networks, and platforms, and is pursuing expansion into a Physical AI infrastructure company that connects manufacturing site equipment and data, leveraging its capabilities in 5G private networks.
The fact that both the chairman and the current CEO have simultaneously initiated on-market purchases is interpreted as a move demonstrating confidence in the company’s future growth potential and a commitment to responsible management. As demand increases due to the boom in the semiconductor market, earnings are also expected to rise significantly. The company explained that this purchase goes beyond a simple expansion of shareholding and serves to convey confidence in the company’s intrinsic value and growth direction to the market and shareholders.
Kwon Oh-hyuk, CEO of SMAC, stated, “We believe the current stock price is undervalued relative to the competitiveness and growth potential of SMAC’s semiconductor-specific equipment, robots, automation solutions, and ICT business.” He added, “The on-market purchases by major shareholders and management are decisions based on confidence in the company’s future value, and we will continue to strive for responsible management and the enhancement of shareholder value.”
