[Edaily Reporter Jo Yong-seok] On the 7th, the Democratic Party of Korea assessed Han Seong-sook, the nominee for Prime Minister, as “the right person to turn the ‘AI Great Transformation,’ a challenge of our time, into reality.”

Lee Ju-hee, the party’s floor spokesperson, commented that day, “As we mark the first anniversary of the Lee Jae-myung administration, we wholeheartedly welcome the nomination of the new Prime Minister nominee, who will lead the successful administration of state affairs in the government’s second year.”

She added, “The nomination of Minister Han Seong-sook of the Ministry of SMEs and Startups as Prime Minister will serve as a valuable milestone in injecting strong momentum into the ‘National AI Strategy’ and ‘Digital Economy Transition’—key initiatives our government has been pursuing—and in expanding women’s leadership.”

Spokesperson Lee remarked, “Nominee Han is a remarkable figure who rose from an ordinary office worker to become the head of a leading domestic digital company,” adding, “Over the past year as Minister of SMEs and Startups, she has already proven her exceptional policy capabilities by driving record-high exports for small and medium-sized enterprises and revitalizing the startup ecosystem.”

He further remarked, “With skills honed in the field, she is the right person to extend the benefits of the semiconductor boom and increased exports—such as the warmth of economic growth—to the lives of all citizens, including local businesses and small business owners, and to make the ‘AI Great Transformation,’ a key challenge of our time, a reality.” He added, “I deeply resonate with the Lee Jae-myung administration’s strong will and direction to build a cabinet that delivers tangible benefits to the people in every corner of their lives.”

Regarding the People Power Party’s opposition to the appointment of the new Prime Minister and its demand for the ballot paper issue to be resolved first, he criticized them, saying, “Stop obstructing state affairs.”

He emphasized, “Regarding the National Election Commission’s mismanagement, the ruling and opposition parties must work together to thoroughly investigate the facts, hold those responsible to account, and implement legal and institutional reforms for organizational reform.” He added, “The Democratic Party has declared that it will take immediate action for a comprehensive organizational overhaul of the National Election Commission, even considering constitutional amendments.”

He also urged, “We call for proactive cooperation in the confirmation hearings and approval procedures to ensure a successful start to the Lee Jae-myung administration’s first two years in office,” adding, “The Democratic Party will work alongside Han Seong-sook, the new prime minister nominee, to successfully advance the Lee Jae-myung administration’s national agenda and firmly support a vigorous leap forward toward a new era for the Republic of Korea.”
