Naver and NVIDIA Form 'AI Factory' Alliance... to Jointly Build Gigawatt-Scale Infrastructure

First phase to begin operations in 2027 with a capacity of 55 MW Expanding Global AI Infrastructure with ‘Gak Sejong’ as a Forward Base Promoting an AI Infrastructure Ecosystem Connecting Asia, the Middle East, and Europe

Naver announced on the 8th that it has agreed with NVIDIA on a joint venture to build a global AI factory.

This collaboration goes beyond a simple technology partnership; it is an integrated partnership that will jointly drive the entire AI infrastructure value chain, from identifying global demand and capital cooperation to infrastructure construction and operations. Naver will participate as a key global partner, sharing both the business outcomes and risks.

To capture the rapidly growing global AI demand, the two companies will proceed in phases with the construction of a massive AI factory, starting with the launch of a 55MW facility in 2027.

1GW is approximately four times the maximum capacity of “Gak Sejong,” Naver’s largest hyperscale data center in Korea. This scale is sufficient to simultaneously accommodate hundreds of thousands of NVIDIA’s latest graphics processing units (GPUs).

Lee Hae-jin, Chairman of Naver’s Board of Directors, and Jensen Huang, CEO of NVIDIA, met today at Naver’s second headquarters, 1784, to discuss business roadmaps and plans for joint entry into global markets.

The two companies have agreed on a strategy to jointly secure leadership in the AI infrastructure ecosystem, extending beyond the Asia-Pacific region to include the European and Middle Eastern markets.

Naver will first use its Hyperscale Data Center in Sejong as a base for expanding its global AI infrastructure.

Starting with the launch of a 55MW facility in the first half of 2027, the plan is to expand overseas infrastructure capacity to 100MW by the end of that year and 200MW by 2028 to meet global demand. This is a phased roadmap toward ultimately building gigawatt-scale AI infrastructure.

The companies will also strengthen their technological collaboration. They will combine Naver’s accumulated capabilities in building and operating large-scale proprietary GPU clusters and its hyperscale data center expertise with NVIDIA’s next-generation high-performance infrastructure platform, “DSX.”

Through this collaboration, the two companies aim to improve data center operational efficiency and enhance business viability.

Cooperation in the field of spatial intelligence is also being pursued. Next-generation technology collaboration will begin in earnest, including the construction of the “Seoul World Model” by leveraging Naver’s spatial modeling technology and street view data with NVIDIA’s world foundation model, “Cosmos.”

Naver recently became the first Korean company to join the “NVIDIA Nemotron Alliance,” which includes 12 global AI companies such as Cursor, Mistral AI, and Plexity.

Naver plans to accelerate the enhancement of HyperClova X’s performance and the establishment of global universality by combining the results of joint Nemotron technology development with its own data and training expertise.

Lee Hae-jin, Chairman of Naver’s Board of Directors, stated, “It is very encouraging that through this alliance, we can present concrete alternatives enabling regions and countries around the world to build their own sovereign AI capabilities.” He added, “This collaboration is highly significant as it provides an opportunity for Naver’s competitive technological infrastructure to take a leap forward into the global market.”
