[Edaily Reporter Park Soon-yeop] KB Asset Management has launched a bond-mixed fund that focuses on investing in #Samsung Electronics and #SK Hynix, leading domestic semiconductor companies. Following the success of an exchange-traded fund (ETF) employing the same strategy, which attracted massive capital in a short period, the company has expanded investment options by offering this product as a public offering fund.
KB Asset Management announced on the 8th that it has launched the “KB Samsung Electronics SK Hynix 50 Fund,” which allocates approximately 25% of its assets to each of Samsung Electronics and SK Hynix, with the remainder distributed among short-term government bonds and monetary stabilization bonds.

This product utilizes the same investment strategy as the previously launched “RISE Samsung Electronics SK Hynix Bond Mixed 50 ETF.” That ETF garnered significant investor interest, surpassing 3 trillion won in net assets just three months after its listing. KB Asset Management plans to enhance accessibility for long-term investors, such as those using pension accounts, by launching this fund product following the ETF.
The memory semiconductor industry is currently viewed as having entered a phase of structural growth, moving beyond simple economic cycles, driven by the spread of artificial intelligence (AI). While demand for High Bandwidth Memory (HBM) is growing rapidly due to the advancement of AI models, production capacity expansion remains limited, leading to forecasts that HBM supply shortages will persist for the time being.
Samsung Electronics and SK Hynix are recognized as leading companies driving the global HBM market. As investment in AI data centers and high-performance computing infrastructure expands, the two companies are expected to maintain their competitive edge in the memory semiconductor market based on their technological capabilities and production capacity.
The ‘KB Samsung Electronics SK Hynix 50 Fund’ utilizes a combination of individual stocks, futures, and ETFs to maintain a real exposure of approximately 25% each to Samsung Electronics and SK Hynix. It is designed to focus on the growth potential of these two companies while allowing for efficient portfolio management based on market conditions.
The bond portfolio is composed primarily of government bonds and monetary stabilization bonds. The duration is kept short, at around 0.9 to 1.0, with a focus on reducing risk associated with interest rate fluctuations. Given its structure combining stocks and bonds, the fund can also be utilized as a long-term investment vehicle through pension accounts.
Beom Kwang-jin, Head of the Pension WM Division at KB Asset Management, stated, “As the growth potential of the memory semiconductor industry increases with the spread of AI, interest in products that allow for concentrated investment in Samsung Electronics and SK Hynix is also growing.” He added, “The ‘KB Samsung Electronics SK Hynix 50 Fund’ is a product that allows investors to pursue both growth and stability simultaneously.”
The ‘KB Samsung Electronics SK Hynix 50 Fund’ is available for subscription through KB Kookmin Bank, NH Nonghyup Bank, BNK Busan Bank, and KB Insurance. The list of participating distributors is expected to expand in the future.
