[Edaily Reporter Han Jeon-jin] #GS Retail is stepping up food safety management as the summer season gets into full swing. First, quality control officers will personally visit partner manufacturers’ facilities to inspect hygiene management practices and randomly collect products for safety testing. The company plans to operate an additional inspection system separate from manufacturers’ self-quality checks to enhance food safety starting from the manufacturing stage.
Cold chain management will also be strengthened during the logistics process. Temperature recording devices on low-temperature delivery vehicles transporting fresh, refrigerated, and frozen foods will undergo double-checks, and vehicle temperatures will be monitored in real-time via a control system.
In stores, the company is collaborating with the professional inspection agency SGS to conduct product sampling inspections and hygiene checks of cooking facilities. Refrigeration equipment is linked to a Smart Energy Management System (SEMS) to maintain optimal temperatures at all times and ensure immediate response in case of any abnormalities.
To strengthen food safety during the summer season, GS25 has temporarily shortened the expiration dates of some bakery products by 1 to 3 days. GS The Fresh plans to reduce the sales hours for in-store prepared foods from the previous 9 hours to 7 hours.
A GS Retail official stated, “We will spare no effort in food safety management so that customers can purchase products with confidence, through proactive quality control activities across the entire process from manufacturing to logistics and in-store operations.”
