[Edaily Reporter Kwon Oh-seok] #KNJ, a manufacturer of core materials and components for semiconductor front-end processes, announced on the 9th that it has completed the installation of "Si Grower" equipment at its Si (silicon) single-crystal material development line at its Asan plant in South Chungcheong Province and will begin trial operations later this month. (Photo: KNJ) The newly installed Si Grower is a core piece of equipment used to grow polysilicon into single-crystal, large-diameter silicon ingots (Si Ingots). By utilizing this equipment, KNJ has established a foundation to conduct initial development work, including single-crystal Si material growth testing and process parameter verification. KNJ plans to expand its business into the Si materials and related components sector by leveraging its accumulated experience in manufacturing semiconductor process components and its precision machining and cleaning technologies. The company plans to stabilize the equipment in June and then sequentially perform tasks such as optimizing material growth conditions, post-processing, and quality evaluation. A company official stated, “With the completion of the Si Grower installation at the Asan plant, preparations for the new Si material business are proceeding as scheduled,” adding, “We will continue testing and verification without delay to steadily expand the technological foundation of our semiconductor process component business.”
