[Edaily Reporter Kim Yoon-jung] Hanwha Solutions is trading higher in early trading. This comes as securities firms have identified the recent sharp drop in the stock price as a buying opportunity and designated it as a top pick, while news of the completion of a solar production facility in the U.S. is also believed to have boosted investor sentiment. According to MP Doctor on the 10th, #Hanwha Solutions traded at 36,650 won, up 1,100 won (3.09%) from the previous trading day. On the same day, Hana Securities maintained its “Overweight” investment rating on the solar sector and named OCI Holdings and Hanwha Solutions as its top picks. Yoon Jae-sung, an analyst at Hana Securities, stated, “From an energy security perspective, Korean solar companies are key to establishing a non-China supply chain that can address the U.S.’s short-term power shortage,” adding, “The recent sharp drop in stock prices is judged to be due to simple supply-and-demand issues rather than fundamentals.” He continued, “U.S. solar module prices have been rising since the beginning of the year, and momentum is likely to strengthen further in June and July,” adding, “This sharp decline in domestic solar stocks presents an excellent buying opportunity.” Meanwhile, Hanwha Solutions’ Q CELLS division announced today that it will begin mass production in July following the completion of the solar cell production line at its Cartersville, Georgia, plant. The Cartersville plant serves as the central hub of Hanwha Q CELLS’ integrated U.S. solar production base, the “Solar Hub.” The Solar Hub is regarded as the only vertically integrated production base in the U.S. This is because it enables all core solar processes—including ingots, wafers, and modules—to be carried out entirely within the United States. With this completion, Hanwha Q CELLS’ production capacity in the U.S. has increased to 3.3 gigawatts (GW) each for ingots, wafers, and cells, and 8.6 GW for modules.
