GS25 to Raise Prices of 6 Types of Ice Cups by 100 Won Starting on the 12th Starting on the 15th, 7-Eleven will raise prices by up to 200 won CU and E-Mart 24 to Join Price Hike: "Coordinating Timing"

[Edaily Reporter Kim Jeong-yu] The price of "ice cups," one of the convenience store industry's top-selling products, is set to increase. This move comes in response to requests from ice cup manufacturers to raise prices due to rising raw material costs.

According to industry sources on the 10th, GS25, operated by #GS Retail, has decided to raise the price of ice cups starting on the 12th. The price of ice cups of all sizes has been uniformly increased by 100 won.

Specifically: △Ice Cup M (700 won → 800 won) △Ice Cup L (900 won → 1,000 won) △ Ice Cup XL (1,300 won → 1,400 won) △ Ice Big Ball Wave 160g (1,300 won → 1,500 won) △ Ice Cubes 1kg (2,200 won → 2,300 won) △ Ice Cubes 3kg (4,600 won → 4,700 won).

7-Eleven will also raise the price of ice cups by 100 won starting on the 15th. Accordingly, the price of a regular ice cup will be 800 won, a large will be 1,000 won, and a grande will be 1,300 won. Bagged ice (1 kg) will also rise from 2,200 won to 2,300 won, and the 3 kg size will be sold for 4,800 won, up 200 won from 4,600 won.

A GS Retail official explained, "This price increase is due to rising costs of raw materials."

#BGF Retail-operated CU and Emart 24 also plan to raise the prices of ice cups. However, it is reported that the timing of the increase is still being coordinated. A CU official stated, "We have received a price increase request from the ice cup manufacturer," adding, "We are reviewing the timing of the increase."

Ice cups are one of the top-selling products at convenience stores. However, with recent overall inflation, costs for raw materials and labor used in the production process have risen, reportedly putting pressure on retailers to raise prices.
