Daesang Joins Public-Private Partnership for AI Transformation in K-Food Manufacturing

Cooperation on Manufacturing Innovation Strengthening Export Competitiveness

[Edaily Reporter Shin Su-jeong] Daesang announced on the 11th that it will join the K-Food Smart Manufacturing Alliance, a public-private partnership promoting AI-based innovation in food manufacturing. The company plans to share its expertise in improving production efficiency and enhancing quality control, and to contribute to the digital transformation of the food industry as a whole and the strengthening of its export competitiveness.

The K-Food Smart Manufacturing Alliance is a public-private partnership platform led by the Ministry of SMEs and Startups in collaboration with the Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs and the Ministry of Food and Drug Safety. The launch ceremony was held on the 10th at COEX in Seoul, with participation from food manufacturers, smart manufacturing technology companies, and specialized institutions. The government aims to boost productivity and quality competitiveness by integrating AI-based automation and data technology into food manufacturing sites.

Fifteen food companies, including Daesang, CJ CheilJedang, Nongshim Taekyung, Maeil Dairies, and Paldo, are participating in this alliance. Government agencies and related organizations, such as the Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs, the Ministry of Food and Drug Safety, and the Korea Food Industry Association, are also participating as partner organizations. Lee Byung-seon, Head of the E&E Division at Daesang, attended the launch ceremony.

Daesang has been investing in the construction of smart factories and the advancement of digital production management systems to improve food production efficiency and strengthen quality competitiveness. The company plans to use this participation as an opportunity to share its manufacturing innovation capabilities and expand cooperation among large, mid-sized, and small enterprises.

Daesang is expanding its business in overseas markets, including the U.S., Europe, and Southeast Asia, primarily through its subsidiaries Cheongjeonwon and Jongga. The company plans to enhance its production competitiveness and strengthen the foundation for expanding K-Food exports through smart manufacturing collaboration.

Lee Byung-seon, Head of Daesang’s E&E Division, stated, “The K-Food Smart Manufacturing Alliance is a meaningful platform for cooperation where the food industry can collectively enhance manufacturing innovation capabilities and strengthen global market competitiveness.” He added, “Daesang will contribute to the sustainable growth and enhanced competitiveness of the K-Food industry based on AI-driven smart manufacturing innovation and mutually beneficial cooperation.”
