KNS announced on the 12th that it has signed a 4.8 billion won contract with Haesung Optics to supply automation equipment through its Vietnamese subsidiary.
This contract is a follow-up achievement to the Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) for a “Strategic Partnership to Build an Advanced AI Autonomous Production System” signed by the two companies last February.
KNS Vietnam plans to supply multiple camera module assembly systems and automated vision inspection systems to Haesung Vina’s production facility. The contract aims to establish an innovative AI-powered optical image stabilization (OIS) automation line at the production facility of “Haesung Vina,” Haesung Optics’ Vietnamese subsidiary.
Final commissioning and completion of the project are scheduled for October.
Through this contract, KNS has secured a substantial supply reference in the fields of autonomous driving and Physical AI automation equipment. The company explained that this progress will aid its efforts to secure orders for automation equipment across various industries in the future.
Physical AI is a technology that recognizes and interprets real-world data to enable machines, robots, and equipment to move autonomously, with sensor technologies such as cameras, LiDAR, and radar serving as its core foundation. There are forecasts that multi-sensor and sensor fusion methods, which utilize cameras, LiDAR, and radar together to enhance safety and precision in the fields of autonomous driving, robotics, and smart manufacturing, will become the mainstream.
In particular, the camera vision-based approach is a market led by Tesla and is currently showing the fastest pace of commercialization. Haesung Optics is a company specializing in the development and production of camera modules used in camera vision systems, supplying products to major global corporations.
KNS recently signed a business agreement with Smart Radar Systems, a specialist in 4D imaging radar, thereby entering the automation equipment market for all three core sensors: cameras, LiDAR, and radar. The company plans to expand its collaboration with Haesung Optics in the camera sector, SOS Lab in the LiDAR sector, and Smart Radar Systems in the radar sector.
A KNS official stated, “This order is significant because it demonstrates that the results of our previous agreement have led to an actual supply contract,” adding, “We will continue to expand our portfolio of automation equipment across various industries and strengthen our growth momentum based on these achievements.”
