The research results were presented at the "International Society for Biophysics and Imaging of the Skin" conference held in France on the 12th (local time).
The core of the research is a "facial aging map" that visually illustrates the starting points and spread of aging based on Korean facial features. The Amorepacific research team used AI to align facial images according to a uniform standard, extract information on wrinkles and pigmentation by area, and integrate it into a single standardized facial image.
This study stands out for visually identifying the spatial characteristics of aging across the entire face. It allows researchers to observe the progression of aging from a holistic perspective, which was previously difficult to grasp by focusing solely on specific areas.
Through these results, Amorepacific has also confirmed the potential for developing customized skin research and evaluation methods based on aging characteristics. The company explained that the study is significant because it goes beyond simply measuring skin aging to enable the proactive detection of skin changes.
Seo Byung-hwi, Head of the Amorepacific R&I Center (CTO), stated, “This study is an example of visualizing the progression of skin aging in a more intuitive way, leveraging the AI-based imaging technology and skin analysis capabilities Amorepacific has accumulated,” adding, “It will serve as a crucial foundation for the future implementation of Amorepacific’s ‘Holistic Longevity Solution’ based on the prediction of skin changes.”
