Shinsegae I&C to Foster AI Leadership Talent with Seoul National University’s College of Engineering

Seoul National University College of Engineering Launches EPM-Based Personalized Education Program Strengthening Project Management Capabilities in AI, New Technologies, and IT To be held over 14 weeks starting in June for future leaders

[Edaily Reporter Shin Young-bin] Shinsegae I&C (#Shinsegae I&C) has partnered with Seoul National University’s College of Engineering to cultivate IT leaders who will lead the era of Artificial Intelligence Transformation (AX).

Shinsegae I&C announced on the 16th that it signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) on the 12th at Seoul National University in Gwanak-gu, Seoul, to foster AI leadership and promote industry-academia collaboration. Key officials from both sides, including Yang Yoon-ji, CEO of Shinsegae I&C, and Kim Young-oh, Dean of the College of Engineering at Seoul National University, attended the signing ceremony.

Under this agreement, the two parties will jointly plan and operate a leadership training program based on the Engineering Project Management (EPM) course offered by Seoul National University’s College of Engineering.

Seoul National University’s EPM is an open course offered by the College of Engineering that trains external experts, such as corporate executives and employees, in engineering-based project management and leadership competencies. Based on this, Shinsegae I&C has jointly developed a customized training program that incorporates the application of AI and new technologies, real-world project case studies, and organizational leadership competencies.

The training program runs for a total of 14 weeks. It is structured around three key areas: leadership, AI and new technologies, and IT project management. The first six weeks focus on the fundamental competencies required of leaders, such as planning skills, problem-solving abilities, and change management capabilities.

The following four weeks are dedicated to understanding AI technology, studying case studies of its industrial applications, and conducting role-specific AI business planning workshops. The final four weeks are designed to strengthen project management skills and practical problem-solving abilities as a project manager (PM), based on real-world case studies.

This program is designed for future leaders among Shinsegae I&C employees and will run from June to September. Completion of the program will be determined based on a comprehensive evaluation of participation and team project results. Graduates will receive a certificate of completion issued by the President of Seoul National University and an Engineering Project Manager certification.

Through this program, Shinsegae I&C plans to cultivate convergent leaders equipped with the technical understanding and business execution capabilities required for the AX era. A key feature of the program is its enhanced practical applicability, achieved by incorporating IT project management, real-world case studies, and project evaluations that reflect the business environment and actual work characteristics.

Kim Young-oh, Dean of the College of Engineering at Seoul National University, stated, “Based on the values of excellence and convergence that the College of Engineering has pursued, we look forward to contributing to the development of Shinsegae I&C’s next-generation leaders who will lead the IT industry.”

Yang Yoon-ji, CEO of Shinsegae I&C, said, “We will continue to operate this curriculum, which combines the EPM program of Seoul National University’s College of Engineering with Shinsegae I&C’s on-site experience, to strengthen future IT leadership capabilities suited for the AX era.”
