Establishing a framework for workflows, data collection, and other aspects
Plans to Expand to LG Affiliates and Global Clients in the Future
[Edaily Reporter Shin Young-bin] LG CNS has partnered with global robotics company Genesis AI to begin testing the application of general-purpose robots in manufacturing and logistics settings. This collaboration aims to introduce “Physical AI” robots—which combine artificial intelligence (AI) with hardware—into actual industrial settings.
LG CNS (#LGCNES) announced on the 16th that it has signed a long-term strategic partnership with Genesis AI. The two companies plan to first evaluate and validate Genesis AI’s general-purpose robots, focusing on use cases in the manufacturing and logistics sectors at LG facilities in the United States. They intend to subsequently expand the scope of application to LG CNS’s industrial client base in the U.S. and eventually extend it to the global market. Its first general-purpose robot, “Eno,” is designed to perform complex tasks requiring precise manipulation. Based on its proprietary foundation model, “GENE AI,” Genesis AI enables robots to learn and generalize across various work environments.
The collaboration will proceed in phases. In the initial phase, a strategic assessment will be conducted for LG CNS corporate clients, including LG affiliates, to determine priorities for robot deployment. Subsequently, the two companies will establish a joint implementation framework through on-site pilot projects, covering workflow documentation, data collection, post-deployment learning, and validation. Based on this, they plan to expand robot deployment to manufacturing, logistics, and labor-intensive industries across LG Group affiliates and LG CNS client companies.
LG CNS will take on the role of system integration, connecting robots to existing business processes. Leveraging its operational infrastructure and system integration (SI) capabilities in the manufacturing, logistics, and electronics sectors, the company will support the operation of general-purpose robots in actual industrial settings.
Through this collaboration, Genesis AI plans to establish a model for the enterprise-wide adoption of general-purpose robots. The company emphasizes that AI-based general-purpose robots can address highly variable and complex tasks that were difficult for existing automation solutions to handle.
Zhou Xian, co-founder and CEO of Genesis AI, said, “Our collaboration with LG CNS will help provide a clear path for companies worldwide to adopt general-purpose robots at an enterprise scale,” adding, “Physical AI will be the next AI transformation, and LG CNS is the ideal partner to usher in this new era.”
Park Sang-yeop, Chief Technology Officer (CTO) of LG CNS, said, “LG CNS’s role is to identify innovative technologies and help apply them at scale in real-world operational settings.” He added, “Genesis’s approach to general-purpose robots will enable new levels of generalization and automation in complex environments such as manufacturing and logistics.”
