[Edaily Reporter Shin Su-jeong] The food industry is rolling out a series of new products targeting summer demand and health trends. According to industry sources on the 18th, the product lineup is diversifying to include frozen yogurt, plant-based cream cheese, health drinks, and snacks that reinterpret traditional Korean pancakes.
Daesang Dives’ Bogumjari has launched two new plant-based cream cheese products: plant-based strawberry cream cheese and plant-based basil-tomato cream cheese. Both products are made without dairy, using plant-based ingredients such as coconut extract and chicory dietary fiber. They have also received vegan certification from the Korea Vegan Certification Institute.
The plant-based strawberry cream cheese is made with Bogumjari strawberry jam—crafted from domestically grown strawberries—and dried cranberries. The plant-based basil-tomato cream cheese features basil and tomatoes. With these new additions to its existing plant-based fig cream cheese and plant-based blueberry cream cheese, Daesang Dives has expanded its plant-based cream cheese lineup to four varieties. The Seoul Milk Cooperative has launched a 120-ml Original Yogurt pouch aimed at the summer season. When refrigerated, it can be enjoyed as a fermented milk drink, and when frozen, it can be eaten like a sorbet. Designed in a pouch format, it can be squeezed by hand after freezing without the need for any special utensils. It uses domestically produced skim milk powder and contains over 10 billion CFU of probiotics per pack. It is 0% fat and 0% cholesterol.
Yonsei Life Health has introduced three new health drinks: Alpha CD Lemon Water, Milk Ceramide Collagen 10,000, and Sweet White Tea with Lupin Beans & Banaba Leaves. Alpha CD Lemon Water is a lemon-flavored drink containing 2,500 mg of alpha-cyclodextrin and 360 mg of indigestible maltodextrin. Milk Ceramide Collagen 10,000 is an inner beauty drink containing 10,000 mg of low-molecular-weight collagen, milk ceramide, hyaluronic acid, vitamin C, biotin, and other ingredients. Sugar-Free Tea with Lupin Beans & Banaba Leaves is a liquid tea labeled as a functional food that contains banaba leaf extract and has 0 kcal. #Orion has launched two varieties of “Jijimi,” a snack that reinterprets traditional Korean pancakes (buchimgae). The product name is derived from “jijimi,” a Korean term meaning “pancake” or “jeon.” The new products come in chive pancake and kimchi pancake flavors and are made by thinly frying the batter with real ingredients. The chive pancake flavor contains actual chives, while the kimchi pancake flavor highlights the spicy taste of kimchi.
Industry observers note that product launches are becoming increasingly segmented. Pouch-type products that can be enjoyed cold are gaining traction in the summer, while beverages featuring functional ingredients are meeting the demand for health-conscious consumption. Plant-based products and K-food-inspired snacks are also expanding as product lines that reflect the trends toward value-driven consumption and the growing popularity of Korean cuisine.
