Hanul Semiconductor Hits Daily Price Limit for Second Consecutive Day… Optimism Over MLCC Market Conditions and Partnership with Murata Draw Attention [Featured Stocks]
[Edaily Reporter Kim Yoon-jeong] Hanul Semiconductor hit the daily price limit for the second consecutive day, setting a new all-time high. Amid growing expectations that the boom in multilayer ceramic capacitors (MLCCs) will continue, news of a partnership with Japan’s Murata—the world’s leading MLCC manufacturer—is believed to have boosted investor sentiment. According to MP Doctor on the 19th, as of 9:15 a.m. that day, #Hanul Semiconductor was trading at 17,820 won—the daily price limit—setting a new all-time high. The securities industry forecasts that the industry’s recovery will gain momentum due to rising MLCC demand driven by the proliferation of artificial intelligence (AI) servers. Meritz Securities recently analyzed that a supply shortage is emerging due to the surging demand for high-capacity MLCCs used in AI servers. In particular, the firm explained that the supply-demand imbalance—which began with 47uF MLCCs, a key specification for AI servers—is spreading to the general MLCC market, thereby increasing the likelihood of a supply shortage across the entire industry. On the 15th, Yang Seung-soo, an analyst at Meritz Securities, stated, “Overall, this AI infrastructure-driven MLCC cycle is expected to exceed the order shift effect that occurred in 2018 when Japanese companies shifted their product mix toward automotive applications,” adding “We forecast stronger growth in price (P) and demand (Q) compared to the past, as this cycle is characterized by simultaneous expansion in demand for high-capacity, high-voltage MLCCs for AI servers, accompanied by industry-wide shortages resulting from the reallocation of supply,” he added. In addition, Hanul Semiconductor announced yesterday that it had signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with Murata, the world’s leading MLCC manufacturer, to develop “mounting equipment for high-performance MLCC manufacturing processes.” Mounters are key pieces of equipment that precisely transport and place components during the MLCC production process.
