SOS LAB Co., Ltd. has been at the forefront of fostering the domestic LiDAR ecosystem, having embarked on technology development and market expansion even when the domestic LiDAR industry was virtually nonexistent. In particular, by securing differentiated technological capabilities in the field of 3D fixed-mount LiDAR, the company has established itself as a strategic partner to global big tech firms.
Jeong Ji-seong, CEO of SOS LAB Co., Ltd., described the past 10 years as a “0 to 1” phase dedicated to securing domestic LiDAR technology and pioneering the market. Moving forward, the company plans to build on this foundation to leap into the “1 to 100” phase, creating new value across various industries.
The company also outlined its vision to grow beyond being a mere LiDAR manufacturer into a key player that sets standards for future industries—such as autonomous driving—based on real-time 3D data and solutions, and leads the spatial intelligence ecosystem.
Recently, 3D data has garnered attention as the core foundation of spatial intelligence, which enables AI to perceive and understand the real world. Spatial intelligence is regarded as a key technology for implementing physical AI, and its scope of application is expanding across various industries, including autonomous driving, robotics, and smart infrastructure.
Unlike camera-based 2D recognition technology, LiDAR is a sensor capable of precisely measuring the surrounding environment to generate 3D data. Based on this LiDAR technology, SOS LAB Co., Ltd. provides the data infrastructure that enables AI to understand the real world.
CEO Jeong stated, “Our original vision of creating a smarter world through LiDAR technology has become even clearer now that the technology has gained market trust and is on the verge of widespread adoption,” adding, “We will ensure that SOS LAB Co., Ltd.’s 3D vision technology serves as the foundation for driving innovation across more than 100 industrial sites worldwide.”
Meanwhile, SOS LAB Co., Ltd. is working to advance its LiDAR-based spatial intelligence technology through collaborations with major domestic and international original equipment manufacturers (OEMs), key component suppliers, robotics companies, and platform companies such as NVIDIA.
Recently, the company has also begun full-scale development of SPAD (Single Photon Avalanche Diode), a next-generation high-performance semiconductor. SPAD is a core semiconductor responsible for LiDAR transmission and reception, and its potential applications are expanding into various fields, including autonomous driving, robotics, and smart infrastructure, as well as low-Earth orbit satellite communications, aerospace, and quantum cryptography.
SOS LAB Co., Ltd. plans to leverage its technological competitiveness—which encompasses LiDAR sensors, 3D data, spatial intelligence solutions, and core semiconductor technologies—to emerge as a leading provider of foundational technologies for future industries.
