[Edaily Reporter JAEMIN SONG ] SamsungElectronics has begun distributing digital Onnuri gift certificates to customers participating in the “With the People: SamsungElectronics Appreciation Festival,” marking an effort to expand mutual growth with local small business owners.

SamsungElectronics announced on the 23rd that it will begin distributing digital Onnuri gift certificates to participating customers in stages starting this week. The event, which has been running for four weeks since the 8th, was organized by SamsungElectronics to share its achievements in semiconductors and other fields with the public as the company enters the era of artificial intelligence (AI).

During the event period, customers who purchase SamsungElectronics products can receive 20% of their purchase amount in digital Onnuri gift certificates. An additional 10% benefit is also provided to so-called “K-Heroes,” including military personnel, police officers, firefighters, and correctional officers.

To receive the benefit, customers must sign up for the SamsungElectronics Membership on the Samsung.com website by September 30 and enter details such as the purchased items, place of purchase, model code, and serial number. Gift certificates will be issued via the “Digital Onnuri” app approximately two weeks after registration is complete.

Digital Onnuri gift certificates can be used at various everyday merchants, including traditional markets, small businesses in local neighborhoods, and convenience stores. Users can make payments by using the app’s QR code payment feature or by registering a debit or credit card in their own name; the gift certificate balance is automatically deducted without the need to generate a separate barcode.

However, their use is restricted at certain types of businesses, such as stores with annual sales exceeding 3 billion won, as well as hospitals, clinics, traditional Korean medicine clinics, and legal and accounting service providers. A list of eligible merchants can be found on the Digital Onnuri app and the official Onnuri Gift Certificate website.

SamsungElectronics explained that this initiative goes beyond simply offering product discounts; it is significant in creating a virtuous cycle where customer benefits lead to the revitalization of the local economy. The company’s policy is to contribute to social harmony and growth by distributing Onnuri Gift Certificates that can be used in traditional markets and local commercial districts.
