PIE CO., LTD. announced on the 23rd that it has signed a non-disclosure agreement (NDA) with Japan’s VIA Mechanics, a manufacturer of precision processing equipment for printed circuit boards (PCBs), to facilitate product development and technical cooperation. This agreement marks a step toward fully launching the joint development of next-generation PCB drilling solutions, a project the two companies have been pursuing since the second half of 2025. The companies have been collaborating on preliminary technology development and product planning, and with the signing of the NDA, they plan to accelerate the joint project to secure a leading position in the market. VIA Mechanics is a key supplier of drilling equipment to global PCB manufacturers. The collaboration is driven by the growing need to advance equipment for high-performance PCB processing, as demand for high-performance AI semiconductors and communication chips—particularly from major semiconductor companies such as NVIDIA, Broadcom, and AMD—has surged recently. The two companies plan to develop next-generation PCB drilling solutions by combining PIE CO., LTD.’s Physical AI-based precision control and robotic automation technologies with Via Mechanics’ PCB hole-drilling technology. This solution is expected to secure a competitive edge in the markets for semiconductor package substrates and high-frequency PCBs for automotive applications. A representative from PIE CO., LTD. stated, “The technical collaboration that the two companies have been pursuing informally has now been formalized through the signing of this NDA,” adding, “We will focus our efforts on accelerating the development and commercialization of new products.”
