[Edaily Reporter KIM SAE-MI ] April Bio ( AprilBio Co.,Ltd.(397030)) announced on the 23rd that it filed an international patent application on the 22nd for its “REMAP” platform, antibody-drug conjugates (ADCs), and new compounds for inflammatory bowel disease (IBD).
The company anticipates that this patent filing will lead to more active external sharing of research data and discussions on partnership opportunities. In the second half of this year, it plans to expand its REMAP-based pipeline and focus on discussions regarding technology exports.
REMAP ADC is a bispecific antibody-drug conjugate (ADC) anticancer agent targeting HER2 and PD-L1, currently under development for solid tumors. The company expects that combining HER2-based drug delivery efficiency with PD-L1-based immunomodulatory mechanisms will address the issues of resistance to existing therapies and tumor heterogeneity.
REMAP IBD is a candidate drug for inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) that simultaneously targets TL1A and IL-23. IL-23 is a validated inflammation-related target in the IBD field. TL1A is known to be involved in Th1 cell activation and fibrosis. The company believes that by simultaneously inhibiting these two targets, it can address both the persistence of inflammation and the progression of fibrosis.
An AprilBio Co.,Ltd. official stated, “The REMAP pipeline aims to develop best-in-class drugs across the board, and the response from overseas partners has been positive,” adding, “Starting in the second half of the year, we will expand the REMAP-based pipeline and focus on generating results, such as technology exports, to enhance our corporate value.”
