[Edaily Reporter Shin Ha-yeon ] Bioenergy specialist JC Chemical Corporation, LTD.(137950)announced on the 24th that it has decided to move up the completion date for its biodiesel pretreatment facility at its Onsan Plant in Ulsan by two months, from March of next year to January.
Following the signing of a construction contract with a domestic EPC (Engineering, Procurement, and Construction) firm last April, the company has also finalized a facility supply contract with the licensor and has begun the basic design phase. Since then, the company has been monitoring the progress of the design through regular coordination meetings and is accelerating the project by having its technical team visit the licensor to directly review key equipment specifications and piping and instrumentation diagrams (P&IDs).
Originally, JC Chemical Corporation, LTD. had planned to achieve mechanical completion (M/C) by the end of March next year, followed by commissioning and the start of commercial operations in April. However, the company adjusted the schedule to meet growing demand from overseas customers, particularly in Europe, and to accommodate new export volumes.
Accordingly, the company now plans to complete mechanical completion by the end of January next year and begin trial operations and commercial operation in February.
The company expects that the construction of this pretreatment facility will increase raw material processing efficiency and improve productivity. In particular, it is projected to expand the scope of low-cost raw material utilization, leading to a yield improvement of at least 5% and enhanced cost competitiveness.
JC Chemical Corporation, LTD. is currently investing approximately 16 billion won to build this facility and is also considering additional investments in the future. The company’s strategy is to expand production capacity and enhance its competitiveness in the global biodiesel market through these efforts.
A company official stated, “We decided to bring forward the completion date to proactively respond to new export contracts and the supply schedules of our global customers,” adding, “We expect both production efficiency and profitability to improve once the facility begins operations.”
