[Edaily Reporter Shin Ha-yeon ] #CLOBOT Co., Ltd, a company specializing in robot services and heterogeneous robot control solutions, is participating in the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport’s “AI-Specialized Pilot City” project and is set to target the physical AI-based smart city market.

CLOBOT Co., Ltd announced on the 24th that the Cheonan-Asan consortium, in which it participates, was selected as the final site in the Chungcheong region for the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport’s “AI-Specialized Pilot City” competitive grant program.

This project aims to solve urban problems and establish a standard model for a Korean-style AI city by utilizing AI, data, and robotics technologies across the entire Cheonan-Asan metropolitan area. The project will run for five years from 2026 to 2030, with a total budget of 6109억원.

The project area covers the entire 1,178㎢ of the Cheonan-Asan region, with Cheonan’s Buldang-dong and the Baebang-Tangjeong area in Asan designated as priority demonstration zones. The consortium plans to establish an integrated Urban Intelligence Center, a digital twin platform, and Agent AI services to realize an autonomous AI city.

CLOBOT Co., Ltd will be responsible for the physical AI sector in this project. Physical AI refers to technology in which the results analyzed and determined by AI are executed on-site by actual physical devices such as robots, drones, and autonomous vehicles.

Based on its proprietary heterogeneous robot integrated control solution and experience in building robot services, the company plans to participate in pilot projects in the fields of transportation, disaster response, safety, and environmental maintenance.

Specifically, in the event of an accident or disaster, the company will implement services such as situation assessment, hazardous area reconnaissance, search and rescue operations, facility monitoring, and cleaning and environmental management using on-site robots and drones. Additionally, the company plans to establish a system that transmits collected on-site data to the Urban Intelligence Center through integration with digital twin and Agent AI systems, and utilizes this data to enhance AI models.

Industry observers view this project as highly significant because it moves beyond the data collection and monitoring-centric structure of existing smart cities to demonstrate an “autonomous AI city” where AI makes decisions and robots execute them directly.

The company plans to expand its robot-based urban service model beyond the Cheonan-Asan pilot project to the greater Chungcheong region and into domestic and international AI city markets.

CLOBOT Co., Ltd. stated, “This project implements a new urban operation model where AI understands the city and robots carry out tasks on-site,” adding, “Based on our capabilities in integrated control of heterogeneous robots and service operations, we will contribute to establishing Cheonan and Asan as Korea’s leading physical AI city models.”
