[Edaily Reporter KIM SAE-MI ] Bio Plus Co., Ltd(099430)is set to target the skin booster market with its recombinant collagen.
Bio Plus Co., Ltd announced on the 24th that its recombinant collagen-based skin booster could serve as an alternative to extracellular matrix (ECM) skin boosters.
Recently, demand in the skin booster market has been growing for purposes such as skin regeneration, hydration, and improved elasticity. However, some extracellular matrix (ECM)-based products face uncertainties regarding raw material supply and regulatory compliance due to their use of human tissue or animal-derived ingredients.
In response to these market changes, Bio Plus Co., Ltd is positioning its recombinant collagen-based product as a next-generation medical aesthetic material. This collagen is produced using an E. coli culture-based system. The company explains that, by avoiding the use of human tissue or animal-derived raw materials, it enhances the stability of raw material supply and reduces quality variations between batches.
Internal company tests confirmed the formation of a triple-helix structure in the recombinant collagen. An increase in the adhesion of fibroblasts and keratinocytes, as well as a tendency to soothe and alleviate stress in skin under stressful conditions, were also observed. Based on these findings, Bio Plus Co., Ltd is evaluating the structural stability and potential for skin application of the recombinant collagen.
Bio Plus Co., Ltd. plans to begin full-scale entry into domestic and international markets starting in the third quarter of this year. The company intends to expand the scope of applications beyond skin boosters to include post-surgical regeneration products and pharmaceutical ingredients.
A Bio Plus Co., Ltd official stated, “Recombinant collagen is a differentiated material in terms of raw material supply stability and quality consistency,” adding, “We plan to expand our application areas, starting with the medical aesthetics sector.”
