[Edaily Reporter Park Jung-Soo ] TAIHAN Fiberoptics Co.,LTD(010170)has completed the development of radiation-resistant specialty optical fibers applicable to the aerospace, defense, and nuclear power sectors and is set to enter the global market.

TAIHAN Fiberoptics Co.,LTD, a company specializing in optical communication cables, announced on the 24th that it has completed the development of next-generation radiation-resistant specialty optical fibers capable of stable communication even in extreme radiation environments and has verified their key performance characteristics through testing and evaluation by external specialized institutions.
The company explained that this technological development has laid the groundwork for expanding its business into sectors where demand for specialty optical fibers is growing, such as the nuclear, aerospace, defense, and sensor markets for extreme environments.
Conventional optical fibers can experience discoloration or signal attenuation when exposed to radiation for extended periods, which can degrade data transmission performance. In contrast, the radiation-resistant optical fiber developed by TAIHAN Fiberoptics Co.,LTD is designed to minimize increases in optical loss even in radiation environments, enabling stable data transmission.
The company is also pursuing entry into the North American market by leveraging the production and sales networks of its U.S. subsidiary, TFOA (Taihan Fiberoptics America), and the recently acquired Incab America. It has also established a foundation to supply radiation-resistant specialty optical fibers to global satellite companies and others through local distribution networks.
It is also making inroads into the European market. TAIHAN Fiberoptics Co.,LTD recently attended an innovation event and space industry-related programs hosted by the Swiss Embassy to discuss potential collaborations with major European aerospace companies and research institutions.
Building on this technological advancement, the company plans to expand its business portfolio from its existing ground-based telecommunications network-centric operations into high-value-added markets such as aerospace, advanced defense, nuclear power, and space AI data centers.
A TAIHAN Fiberoptics Co.,LTD official stated, “The development of radiation-resistant specialty optical fiber is a significant milestone in expanding our business scope beyond terrestrial communication networks into the nuclear power, aerospace, and advanced defense markets,” adding, “We will accelerate our entry into the global NewSpace supply chain based on our technological competitiveness.”
Meanwhile, through the development of this radiation-resistant optical fiber, TAIHAN Fiberoptics Co.,LTD has secured both optical communication solutions for AI data centers and specialty optical fibers for extreme environments, thereby strengthening the foundation for its next-generation growth engines.
