Kim Chang-han, CEO of KRAFTON(259960), met with Matt Garman, CEO of Amazon Web Services (AWS), in Seattle, U.S., to discuss ways to collaborate in the fields of artificial intelligence (AI) and cloud computing. This marks a further intensification of CEO Kim’s global activities as he accelerates the company’s transition from a game developer to an AI and robotics firm.
On the 24th, KRAFTON announced via LinkedIn that CEO Kim met with AWS CEO Matt Garman and other AWS executives in Seattle to exchange views on potential collaboration in AI research and development and cloud infrastructure.
The two sides discussed KRAFTON’s AI vision, as well as the role that cloud and AI infrastructure can play in game development and the advancement of AI technology. In particular, it was reported that the conversation also touched on ways to apply humanoid robotics and AI simulation technologies to the real world.
This meeting is seen as an extension of the strategy to expand the AI and robotics business, which CEO Kim has been personally leading recently.
CEO Kim is currently based in the United States, where he is spearheading KRAFTON’s AI business. Notably, he personally serves as CEO of “Ludo Robotics,” an AI robotics company established by KRAFTON in the U.S. to conduct research on physical AI, and is actively overseeing its operations.
KRAFTON is currently pushing forward in earnest with its transformation from a game developer into an AI technology company. In addition to operating its own AI research organization and investing in the development of in-game AI characters (CPCs), the company is also working to build a next-generation game development environment that integrates generative AI and simulation technologies.
Furthermore, by expanding its business scope into the fields of physical AI and humanoid robots, the company is broadening the application of AI technology beyond games into the real world. CEO Kim’s efforts to personally build a network of partnerships with global big tech and AI companies in the U.S. are part of this strategy.
As AWS is also actively expanding its generative AI platform and AI infrastructure business, industry attention is focused on the potential for collaboration between the two companies. As the world’s largest cloud service provider, AWS offers the large-scale computing infrastructure necessary for AI model development and service operations.
A KRAFTON spokesperson stated, “During this meeting, we discussed various collaboration opportunities centered on KRAFTON’s AI R&D capabilities and AWS’s cloud and AI infrastructure,” adding, “We plan to continue these discussions in the future.”
Given that CEO Kim is moving beyond the gaming industry to position AI and robotics as the next-generation growth engines and is actively expanding global partnerships, this meeting with AWS executives is viewed as a significant step that will provide insight into KRAFTON’s future AI business strategy.
