INNOX Corporation Establishes Supply Chain for Key Materials in All-Solid-State Batteries with Jeongseok Chemical

[Edaily Reporter Shin Ha-yeon ] INNOX Advanced Materials Co., Ltd.(272290) Subsidiary INNOX Corporation is partnering with Jeongseok Chemical to establish a supply chain for key materials used in all-solid-state batteries.

INNOX Corporation announced on the 25th that it has signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with Jeongseok Chemical, a company specializing in the manufacture of lithium sulfide, to collaborate on the all-solid-state battery materials business.

Through this agreement, INNOX Corporation plans to supply high-purity lithium hydroxide, which is necessary for the production of lithium sulfide (Li₂S), while Jeongseok Chemical plans to use it to establish a supply chain for producing lithium sulfide.

Lithium sulfide is considered a key raw material for next-generation all-solid-state batteries. The two companies’ strategy is to respond to the expansion of the all-solid-state battery market by establishing a materials value chain that spans from high-purity lithium hydroxide to lithium sulfide.

Last November, INNOX Corporation completed construction of a high-purity lithium hydroxide production plant in Ochang, North Chungcheong Province, and established a mass production system. Jeongseok Chemical has also secured its own lithium sulfide production technology and is currently conducting prototype testing for major domestic corporations as well as clients in the U.S. and Japan.

Both companies anticipate that demand for related materials will grow as domestic and international battery manufacturers and automakers push for the commercialization of all-solid-state batteries.

An INNOX Corporation official stated, “We are fostering lithium materials for all-solid-state batteries as a key growth engine for the next generation,” adding, “Through our collaboration with Jeongseok Chemical, we will establish a stable mass production system at an early stage.”

A Jeongseok Chemical official said, “We are strengthening our R&D and production capabilities with the goal of commercialization by 2027,” adding, “We expect our competitiveness in mass production to increase significantly as we secure a stable supply of high-quality lithium hydroxide.”
