Naver announced on the 26th that it is officially launching AI Tab and making it directly accessible from mobile and PC search bars.

Accordingly, the “Green Dot” on the Naver app’s search home screen will be reorganized around the AI Tab. The Green Dot has long served as a search and AI tool symbolizing connection and discovery in the mobile era. Among the Green Dot’s key features, “Smart Lens”—a multimodal search tool—has been prominently placed next to the AI Tab button so it can be accessed directly from the search bar. “Music Search” has been integrated into the AI Tab.

The AI tab is an agentic search service that not only understands users’ search intent and context to provide answers but also connects them to real-world actions such as shopping, location discovery, and reservations.

With this official launch, all users can now access the service via the AI Tab button in the mobile and PC search bars on Naver’s main page, which receives an average of 50 million daily visitors. Starting in July, users will also be able to navigate to the AI Tab from the chat window at the bottom of the AI Briefing to continue their search.

The AI Tab surpassed 4 million cumulative users in just about two months after launching its beta service for Naver Plus Membership users last April. Naver explained that during the beta period, it confirmed the AI Tab’s potential to evolve into an action-oriented AI agent that organically guides user behavior beyond mere information discovery.

During the beta period, click-through rates for product and location cards each exceeded 20%. The more frequently users accessed the AI Tab, the higher the rate at which they were directed to shopping and places services. In fact, users who visited the AI Tab 11 or more times clicked on products 2.7 times more often and on locations twice as often as those who visited only once.

The official version also includes a feature that intuitively displays Naver Maps and real-time available booking slots directly within the response. Users can go beyond simply checking relevant information while exploring restaurants, cafes, or specific locations; they can now seamlessly continue through the necessary actions—from checking the map to making a reservation and visiting the location—all within a single workflow.

To coincide with the official launch of the AI Tab, Naver has also integrated a next-generation model optimized for action-oriented conversational search services. This model is a “product-native LLM” tailored for large-scale commercial service environments. It is designed to handle Naver’s service environment, which receives an average of 50 million daily visitors, and is characterized by fast response times and high throughput.

Naver explained that, building on the capabilities of the existing HyperClova X, it combined service scenarios, vertical data, and user feedback to enhance core performance areas such as query understanding, answer summarization, and tool invocation.

Naver plans to continue strengthening the capabilities of the AI Tab’s Agent AI based on this specialized model. In the second half of the year, it will introduce a feature that recommends personalized real estate listings based on users’ budgets and preferred locations. It also plans to add a health agent AI feature that suggests personalized lifestyle habits and health management methods when users upload their health checkup results. By the end of the year, Naver will integrate the AI Tab into its web browser, “Whale,” to expand user touchpoints across the entire web environment.

Kim Kwang-hyun, Naver’s Chief Data and Content Officer (CDO), stated, “The AI Tab is a prime example of the convergence of Naver’s service ecosystem, data infrastructure, and AI technology.” He added, “Now that tens of millions of Naver users can access the AI Tab directly from the search bar, we will continue to expand our differentiated Agent AI experience that bridges the gap from discovery to action.”
