Coreline Soft Co., Ltd. Conducts AI Pilot Project for Acute Cerebral Hemorrhage with Severance Hospital… Seeks to Establish Basis for Reimbursement

[Edaily Reporter NA EUN-KYUNG ] Medical artificial intelligence (AI) company Coreline Soft Co., Ltd.(384470)announced on the 26th that it is conducting a pilot project at Yonsei Severance Hospital and Gangnam Severance Hospital using its AI solution “AVIEW NeuroCAD” to assist in the diagnosis of cerebral hemorrhage, with the aim of evaluating its clinical efficacy and cost-effectiveness.

In the field of emergency medicine, medical AI must go beyond simply and accurately identifying lesions; it must demonstrate its ability to shorten diagnosis times and improve the efficiency of medical staff in real-world clinical settings in order to proceed to new medical technology evaluation and discussions on health insurance reimbursement rates. This pilot project is part of the process to secure such clinical and economic evidence.

Yonsei Severance Hospital will develop an economic evaluation model for the AI-based cerebral hemorrhage diagnostic assistance software, while Gangnam Severance Hospital will conduct real-world usage evaluations in an actual emergency medical setting. Both institutions plan to analyze the impact of AI on the emergency room interpretation workflow and the decision-making process of medical staff.

A-View NeuroCAD is an AI-powered emergency diagnostic assistance solution that prioritizes and flags patients suspected of having a cerebral hemorrhage immediately after a computed tomography (CT) scan and alerts medical staff. In the emergency room, it is critical to determine whether a cerebral hemorrhage is present within minutes to avoid missing the optimal treatment window, making it essential to quickly prioritize image interpretation.

Coreline Soft Co., Ltd. explained that since the product was designated as an innovative medical device, its use has been expanding on a non-insured basis. As of last April, the cumulative number of cases using AView NeuroCAD exceeded 50,000, and in some hospitals that have adopted the system, it is being used for hundreds of cases per month.

A representative example is Pohang Se-Myeong Christian Hospital. The hospital utilizes AView NeuroCAD in collaborative consultations between its emergency room and radiology department, and according to the company, it is used in several hundred cases per month.

An official from Semyeong Christian Hospital stated, “In the emergency room, the key is to quickly identify urgent conditions, such as cerebral hemorrhage, among the influx of patients,” adding, “A-View NeuroCAD analyzes CT images and immediately flags suspicious findings as top priorities, enabling medical staff to respond proactively.”

The spokesperson continued, “In the emergency medical environment, where countless decisions must be made in a short period of time, the system helps medical staff determine a treatment plan safely and swiftly,” adding, “Since shaving just a few minutes off the diagnosis time can change a patient’s prognosis, it helps improve the early detection and response efficiency for patients with cardiovascular and cerebrovascular emergencies.”

Coreline Soft Co., Ltd. expects this expansion of real-world use to lead to the growth of its Pay-Per-Use (PPU) model. This is because revenue is generated the more the medical AI is repeatedly used during actual examinations and interpretations after it is installed in hospitals.

Coreline Soft Co., Ltd. official stated, “If the emergency AI becomes firmly integrated into hospital workflows, we will be able to expand its scope of application to include not only cerebral hemorrhage but also other emergency conditions such as aortic dissection and pulmonary embolism (PE),” adding, “Through this, we will increase product usage per hospital and strengthen our recurring revenue base.”
