Naver to Integrate Its App, Maps, and Whale Browser into HyundaiMotor’s Grandeur and Avante Models
Integration with Next-Generation Infotainment System ‘Pleos Connect’
Provides everything from schedule briefings and directions to venue recommendations
SDV Expands Collaboration on Automotive App Ecosystem
[Edaily Reporter Lee So-Hyun ] Naver (NAVER(035420)) is expanding its mobility service partnership by providing the Naver app, Naver Maps, and the Whale browser for HyundaiMotor Group’s next-generation in-vehicle infotainment system.
Naver announced on the 26th that it will provide key services—including the Naver app, Naver Maps, and the Whale browser—to HyundaiMotor Group’s next-generation infotainment system, “Pleos Connect.”
On the same day, at the “2026 Busan Mobility Show,” HyundaiMotor Group unveiled its new models—“The New Grandeur” and “The All-New Avante”—equipped with Pleos Connect.
Starting with The New Grandeur and continuing with The All-New Avante—scheduled for release later this year—Naver and HyundaiMotor Group plan to expand their collaboration to provide mobility experiences leveraging Naver’s artificial intelligence (AI) technology and services in software-defined vehicles (SDVs) equipped with Pleos Connect.
Pleos Connect allows users to access the Naver app, Naver Maps, and the Whale browser, all optimized for the in-vehicle environment. A key feature is that the experience of searching for information, consuming content, receiving location recommendations, and getting directions—typically enjoyed on mobile devices—is seamlessly extended to the vehicle.
The “Naver Auto App,” Naver’s dedicated in-car app, provides personalized information and content based on the driver’s schedule, interests, and current location. The “Today’s Briefing” feature summarizes today’s weather, top news, and upcoming appointments at a glance. Drivers can quickly check the information they need before and after their trip right before departure.
As the time for a scheduled visit approaches, the app seamlessly connects to Naver Maps’ turn-by-turn navigation. It supports not only route guidance but also the discovery of nearby attractions and popular restaurants.
Naver Maps allows drivers to view driving information directly on the vehicle’s screen without a separate CarPlay connection. The main screen displays your estimated destination, nearby gas stations, and your driving score at a glance. Information on nearby restaurants and available coupons is also provided.
The estimated destination is recommended based on a comprehensive analysis of the driver’s travel context and vehicle status. For example, if fuel or battery levels are low, it recommends nearby gas stations or electric vehicle charging stations, and during expected commute times, it helps you quickly check routes to your home or office.
Naver explained that this allows users to receive local information tailored to their driving environment and continue the personalized navigation experience they’re accustomed to on Naver Maps via mobile right within the in-vehicle platform.
The Whale browser will also be optimized for the in-vehicle environment. Drivers will be able to search for information and browse their favorite web content while in the car. It supports Light and Dark modes, which adjust the screen based on ambient light, providing a browsing experience tailored to driving and passenger comfort.
Choi Soo-yeon, CEO of Naver, said, “Just as Naver has revolutionized various everyday experiences—including search, local services, shopping, and content—on mobile following its success on PCs, we aim to provide new experiences within the mobility ecosystem through our collaboration with HyundaiMotor Group.”
She added, “As vehicles are evolving beyond mere means of transportation into platforms that naturally connect users’ daily lives with their digital experiences and create new value, we will expand our partnership with HyundaiMotor Group based on Naver’s extensive service expertise and technological capabilities.”
