[Edaily Reporter Park Sun-Yeop ] SOLUM Healthcare received an award at the Korean Cancer Association’s academic conference for its research on non-invasive, multi-cancer early diagnosis using artificial intelligence (AI).
SOLUM Healthcare announced on the 29th that it presented the results of its clinical research on AI-based non-invasive multi-cancer early diagnosis technology at the 52nd Annual Meeting of the Korean Cancer Association, held on the 26th at the Grand InterContinental Seoul Parnas Hotel in Gangnam-gu, Seoul, and received the “Best Poster Award.”

The Korean Cancer Association is an academic organization in the field of cancer research and treatment founded in 1974. It holds an annual academic conference where domestic and international cancer experts share research findings on the latest treatments and diagnostic technologies.
At this conference, SOLUM Healthcare submitted a research abstract titled “AI-assisted SERS analysis of urinary metabolites for non-invasive early cancer detection” and presented a poster.
This study was based on clinical data from approximately 1,500 patients collected in collaboration with major hospitals in South Korea. The study covered six types of cancer: lung cancer, prostate cancer, pancreatic cancer, colorectal cancer, bladder cancer, and ovarian cancer.
The research team demonstrated the potential of a method that combines metabolite information from patients’ urine with the company’s proprietary optical analysis technology—Surface-Enhanced Raman Scattering (SERS)—and AI algorithms to learn and analyze cancer-specific patterns. The company explained that this study was selected as an award-winning entry in recognition of its originality and clinical value.
The analysis revealed distinct signal patterns for each cancer type between the control group and the six cancer patient groups. The study also demonstrated the AI-based screening capability to simultaneously classify and identify multiple cancers.
The company noted that the consistency of the analytical results even in the early-stage cancer patient group demonstrates the technology’s potential as an early screening tool. It added that the technology has garnered attention as a simple, non-invasive method for identifying multiple cancer risks, as AI-based screening was also confirmed to be feasible for cases on the borderline between normal and cancerous tissue.
Kim Ji-hee, CEO of SOLUM Healthcare, said, “We are pleased that the Korean Cancer Association has recognized our AI-based non-invasive cancer diagnostic capabilities,” adding, “We will continue to advance our clinical research to provide AI-based early cancer screening solutions that offer tangible benefits to healthcare providers and patients.”
