KakaoTalk’s Electronic Document Service Expands into the Legal Sector

[Edaily Reporter Lee So-Hyun ] Kakao(035720)is partnering with Ro&Company and Hana Financial TI to expand its KakaoTalk-based electronic document service into the legal sector. The company is setting out to build a service that transitions the creation, transmission, and storage of legal documents to a mobile electronic document platform.

Kakao announced on the 30th that it had signed a business agreement with Ro&Company and Hana Financial TI to expand electronic document services in the legal sector.
The signing ceremony, held on the 10th at the Ro&Company Building in Seocho-gu, Seoul, was attended by Lee Jeong-beom, Head of Kakao’s Wallet Tribe; Jeong Jae-sung, Deputy CEO of Ro&Company; and Park Yong-hae, Division Head at Hana Financial TI.
Through this agreement, the three companies plan to establish a secure system for the distribution and storage of legal documents and jointly create a digital legal service environment that enhances user convenience.
This agreement was arranged in conjunction with the Ministry of Science and ICT and the KoreaInformation&Communication Agency’s “2026 Project to Expand Mobile Electronic Certification for Public Perception.” Kakao, designated by the Ministry of Science and ICT as an authorized electronic document intermediary, provides electronic document services to approximately 480 public, financial, and private institutions.
Kakao will collaborate with Ro&Company, which was selected as the project lead in its capacity as an authorized electronic document intermediary. Hana Financial TI will participate as the operator of the authorized electronic document center.
Kakao will provide a KakaoTalk-based channel for sending and receiving electronic documents. Documents drafted by attorneys on Law&Company’s legal service platform, LawTalk, will be delivered to the other party via KakaoTalk’s electronic document service. The relevant documents will be stored at Hana Financial TI’s Certified Electronic Document Center.
Through this agreement, Kakao has expanded the scope of its electronic document services from the public, financial, and private sectors to the legal field.
Lee Jeong-beom, Head of Kakao’s Wallet Tribe, stated, “Through this agreement, we are now fully expanding the scope of KakaoTalk’s electronic document service to include the legal sector,” adding, “We will strive to enhance user convenience and provide a more stable environment for using electronic documents through the digital transformation of legal documents.”
Jeong Jae-sung, Deputy CEO of Law & Company, remarked, “It is meaningful to collaborate on digital legal document innovation with companies that lead the fields of certified electronic document relay and storage centers,” adding, “We will create innovations that both clients and attorneys can tangibly experience by building convenient services suited to the digital age.”
Park Yong-hae, Head of Division at Hana Financial TI, said, “As the first certified electronic document center in the domestic financial sector, we will focus our in-house capabilities to systematically ensure the reliability and stability required for the storage and distribution of digital legal documents.” He added, “Taking this service launch as an opportunity, we will do our utmost to ensure that electronic documents can be utilized across a wider range of industries.”
