A key feature of this film is that it marks the first time a Doraemon theatrical film has been screened in 4D. Set during summer vacation, this underwater action-adventure follows Doraemon and his friends as they go camping 10,000 meters below the sea and face the dangers of the massive Guiam Fortress with their underwater vehicle, the “Buggy.”
“Doraemon the Movie: Shin Jin-gu’s Underwater Secret Fortress” is an official remake that reinterprets “Doraemon the Movie: Jin-gu’s Underwater Fortress” (1983)—a film long beloved by fans—with a modern sensibility. It has generated significant anticipation on social media and other platforms even before its release.
The Korean dub features a voice cast including Yoon A-young, Kim Jung-ah, Jo Hyun-jung, Lee Hyun-ju, and Choi Nak-yoon. The official theme song was performed by the Japanese band sumika, which drew fans’ attention from the moment the trailer was released.
This film gained word-of-mouth popularity in Japan for its moving narrative and grand scale, topping the box office for six consecutive weeks.
