[E-Daily Reporter Shin Ha-yeon ] Global SM Tech Limited(900070)is trading up by more than 3%. News that the company has been selected as a primary partner for a four-legged robot development project by a global automotive and robotics parts company—marking the start of its full-scale entry into the global robotics parts market—appears to have boosted investor sentiment.
According to MP Doctor on the 7th, as of 10:03 a.m. that day, Global SM Tech Limited was trading at 1,070 won, up 3.58% from the previous trading day.
This project marks the first time Global SM Tech Limited is applying its precision fastener technology—which has traditionally focused on the automotive and electronics sectors—to the robotics market. Fasteners used in robot drive units and joint connections are considered a component category with high technical barriers to entry, as they require much smaller dimensions and higher dimensional precision than conventional automotive screws to enable precise motion control.
The initial order is for approximately 6,000 sets, with prototype delivery scheduled for this October. Starting with this quadruped robot project, the company plans to expand its business scope into the field of industrial humanoid robots in the future.
Meanwhile, Global SM Tech Limited is expanding its production facilities as orders for smartphones and electric vehicles at its Vietnam subsidiary are growing rapidly. The company is accelerating its growth by capitalizing on the expansion of orders at its Vietnam subsidiary—driven by the restructuring of global supply chains due to the U.S.-China trade dispute—and by securing a leading position in supplying fasteners to the local electric vehicle manufacturer VinFast.
