[E-Daily Reporter Park Jung-Soo ] MGEN SOLUTIONS(032790)announced on the 7th that it will participate in the consortium for the “On-Device Artificial Intelligence (AI) Service Demonstration and Dissemination Project” led by Gyeonggi Province and Gyeonggi Technopark to establish public safety services utilizing AI fire detection and suppression robots. This project aims to demonstrate a public safety service that utilizes domestically developed on-device AI technology to detect fires early and enable an initial response. With a total project budget of approximately 4.88 billion won, participants include Gyeonggi Province, Suwon City, Hwaseong City, and Icheon City, as well as Gyeonggi Technopark and companies specializing in AI, semiconductors, sensors, and robotics. MGEN SOLUTIONS will be responsible for the physical AI sector, utilizing its AI fire detection and suppression robot, “Alpha Rover.” The pilot will take place at the Suwon City Resource Recycling Center, where AI video analysis, graphene electronic nose sensors, and on-device AI technology will be used to detect fire risks in real time. The robot will then travel to the scene to track the heat source and carry out initial response measures. Additionally, the robot’s status information and mission results will be linked in real time to an integrated control platform, supporting rapid on-site response. A key feature of this project is the application of on-device AI technology, where the AI makes decisions directly on-site rather than in the cloud. By utilizing edge AI based on a domestically developed neural processing unit (NPU), the system enables immediate response without network latency, thereby implementing physical AI-based public safety services that integrate AI and robots. Through this pilot project, MGEN SOLUTIONS plans to establish a public sector reference case for its AI fire detection and suppression robot and lay the groundwork for entering the public procurement and smart city markets. In the second year, the company also plans to build an AI fire response model that combines mobile robots with automated suppression equipment, integrated with the stationary automatic suppression system “Alpha Shot.” An MGEN SOLUTIONS official stated, “This demonstration project will serve as a leading example of Physical AI in Korea, where AI detects fire risks early and AI firefighting robots are deployed to actual sites,” adding, “Based on the demonstration results accumulated in the public safety sector, we will expand the supply of AI fire response solutions to high-risk industrial sites such as industrial complexes, logistics centers, resource recycling facilities, and factories.”
