[E-Daily Reporter Park Jung-Soo ] FutureChem Co., Ltd.(220100), a company specializing in the development of new radiopharmaceuticals (RPT), announced on the 7th that it has signed an exclusive supply and distribution agreement in India for “Alzavue” (active ingredient: F-18 florapronol), a radiopharmaceutical used to diagnose Alzheimer’s disease, with Shreeji Imaging and Diagnostic Centre, an Indian radiopharmaceutical company.
The agreement officially took effect upon signature by the CEOs of both companies and has a term of 15 years. Unless either party objects, it will be automatically renewed annually upon expiration.
Shreeji is an Indian radiopharmaceutical manufacturer and distributor that operates a production network with a supply chain covering approximately 140 regions nationwide.
Alzavue is a PET (positron emission tomography) radiopharmaceutical for the diagnosis of Alzheimer’s dementia, approved by the Ministry of Food and Drug Safety in 2018 as New Drug No. 29 in South Korea. It is used for the early diagnosis of Alzheimer’s disease by targeting beta-amyloid plaques in the brain.
Under this agreement, FutureChem Co., Ltd. will exclusively supply a set of consumables—including cassettes, reagent kits, and precursors—to India. Shriji will produce and distribute the final injectable solution locally using its own synthesis equipment, and FutureChem Co., Ltd. will receive a royalty of 2% of the product’s net sales in India.
Since radiopharmaceuticals have short half-lives, making long-distance transport of finished products difficult, the business will be conducted by supplying raw materials and consumables for local production.
FutureChem Co., Ltd. official stated, “India is a market where demand for dementia diagnostics is rapidly increasing due to an aging population,” adding, “Through a long-term partnership with Shriji, which has a local network, we will work to establish Alzavue in the Indian market and expand our presence in the global radiopharmaceutical market.”
The official added, “This agreement marks the commercial success of the consumables kit jointly developed by FutureChem Co., Ltd. and Trasis,” and noted, “Based on this, we plan to expand similar supply agreements to other countries as well.”
