[Edaily Starin KIM HYUNSIK Reporter] Girl group RESCENE (Won-i, Liv, Minami, May, Jenna), which caused a sensation with a comeback on the music charts, is set to return on the 8th with their new song “Pretty Girl.”

“Pretty Girl” is a teen pop track, a remake of the song of the same name released by KARA in 2008. Their agency, The Muse Entertainment, stated, “We aimed to enhance the musical quality by refining the overall sound structure of the track while preserving its highly addictive melody.”
Lissene is a group that promotes under the concept of “infusing fragrance into music.” The fragrance theme for this new song is “grapefruit.” The agency stated, “Lissene plans to exude a fresh and invigorating charm, just like the scent of grapefruit.”
Following the buzz they generated this year with their self-produced YouTube variety content, Lisenne further boosted their popularity by successfully climbing the music charts in reverse with their debut song “LOVE ATTACK,” released in August 2024.
“Pretty Girl” is the first new song they’ve released since their chart comeback. Lisenne will debut the “Pretty Girl” performance for the first time on Mnet’s “M Countdown” on the 9th.

Meanwhile, Lissenne has also been struggling with controversy surrounding a remark made by member Won-i, a native of Geoje, South Gyeongsang Province, in one of the group’s recent original content videos.
The controversy was sparked when a producer at MBC Gyeongnam posted on X (formerly Twitter), saying, “It’s unfortunate that even young people native to Geoje can’t distinguish between the dialectal ‘no’ and the Ilbe-style ‘no’ when using the word.” Ilbe (Ilgan Best) is classified as a far-right online community. Within Ilbe, it is known that members append “no” to the end of certain words or sentences to disparage the late former President Roh Moo-hyun.
Online, a heated debate ensued over Won-i’s remarks, with some pointing out that it was an Ilbe-style expression, while others countered that the idol, who is from Geoje, was simply using the Gyeongsang dialect as usual. The controversy intensified as even some political figures publicly weighed in.
The National Institute of the Korean Language recently stated in an online Q&A that “‘-no’ is a final particle used to express doubt in the Gyeongsang dialect,” but added that “it is difficult to make a definitive conclusion as actual usage and interpretation may vary depending on the scholar.” Neither Won-i’s agency nor Won-i herself has issued an official statement regarding this controversy.
