[E-Daily Reporter Park Jung-Soo ] SCL Science(246960)announced on the 8th that its self-developed Class 4 absorbable hemostatic agent, “InnoSEAL Plus DL,” has obtained a medical device code from Seoul St. Mary’s Hospital of The Catholic University of Korea and has completed shipment of its initial batch. InnoSEAL Plus DL is a third-generation absorbable hemostatic agent based on the chemical polymer “chitosan-catechol (CHI-C),” inspired by the molecular structure of mussel adhesive protein. It is characterized by its ability to function independently of blood clotting protein mechanisms, providing stable hemostatic effects even for patients taking anticoagulants or those with blood clotting disorders. The product received approval for National Health Insurance reimbursement last year, and actual supply to medical facilities began after obtaining a medical device code from Seoul St. Mary’s Hospital. The company explained that the product price, based on the National Health Insurance reimbursement cap, is 239,950 won per unit for the 11×5 cm size, which is approximately 50% of the price per unit area compared to imported fibrin patches. SCL Science is currently in the process of expanding the application of the medical device code to the five St. Mary’s Hospitals affiliated with the Catholic University of Korea. Through this, the company plans to secure monthly prescription volumes of around 1,500 units. A company official stated, “Starting with supplies to Seoul St. Mary’s Hospital, we plan to expand coverage to all hospitals affiliated with The Catholic University of Korea,” adding, “We plan to accelerate our efforts not only to enter the country’s ‘Big 5’ hospitals but also to target the emergency and military supply markets, the global hemostatic agent market, and the expansion of additional product lines such as wound dressings.”
