No Issues Despite 'Scary' Controversy… Lisanne Tops Melon’s Top 100 and Hot 100 Charts

"Love Attack" Completes Its Comeback Story Two Years Later "Pretty Girl" Tops the Hot 100 Immediately After Release Proving Fan Loyalty and Popularity Stronger Than the Controversy

[Edaily Starin YUN GI BACK Reporter] Following their chart-topping hit “LOVE ATTACK,” which climbed back up the charts, the group RESCENE has swept the music charts by taking the No. 1 spot on Melon’s Hot 100 with their new song “Pretty Girl.” It appears that the so-called “Ilbe controversy” surrounding member Won-i has had little impact on public consumption of their music.

According to the music industry on the 9th, Lisenne’s “Love Attack” reached No. 1 on Melon’s Top 100 at 10 p.m. on the 8th. As the title track of their first mini-album “SCENEDROME,” released last August, it climbed to the top approximately two years after its release, setting a new precedent as a prime example of a song making a comeback.
The resurgence of “Love Attack” began on member Won-i’s personal YouTube channel, “Hello, I’m Won-i. Nice to Meet You.” Videos featuring Won-i’s “gyaru” makeup and regional dialect concept went viral on social media and short-form video platforms, sparking the so-called “Lisenne boom,” which naturally led to renewed interest in the group’s past releases. Driven by word of mouth, “Love Attack” continued its steady climb up the music charts and eventually reached the top of Melon.
But the resurgence didn’t stop there. On the 8th at 6 p.m., Lisenne released the single “Pretty Girl,” a remake of KARA’s hit song, and by 11 p.m. that same day, it had shot straight to No. 1 on Melon’s Hot 100 (for songs released within the last 100 days). As of 8 a.m. on the 9th, it also maintained the No. 1 spot on the Hot 100 (30-day chart), signaling a successful start. By reaching the top ranks of both the Melon Top 100 and the Hot 100, the group achieved the rare feat of having both a new song and a resurgent track perform well simultaneously.
“Love Attack” is holding strong in the top ranks not only on Melon but also on major music platforms such as FLO, Genie Music, and Bugs. Furthermore, previously released tracks like “Pinball,” “Deja Vu,” and “Runaway” have re-entered the upper ranks of the Melon Top 100, indicating that interest in Risenne is spreading to the group’s entire discography.
This success is drawing even more attention as it coincides with the “Ilbe controversy” recently raised in political circles. Some political figures have raised suspicions that the expression “Museopno,” used by Won-i in her content, is a term from the far-right online community Ilbe. However, online reactions have dismissed this as a “forced controversy,” with many countering that the expression is actually a Gyeongsang Province dialect; meanwhile, the group’s music sales have continued to rise regardless of the controversy. It appears the public is more interested in the music and content itself than in the controversy.
Since their debut, Lisenne has built a distinctive musical universe centered on the unique concept of “scent.” They are credited with demonstrating the resilience to propel even songs released two years ago back to the top, thanks to a combination of consistently high-quality music and word-of-mouth generated through short-form content.
