(Photo courtesy of KT&G Corporation) #KT&G Corporation announced on the 9th that it had achieved an “AA” rating—higher than the previous “A” rating—in the AEO certification program administered by the Korea Customs Service. KT&G Corporation’s rating was upgraded three years after it first received AEO certification in 2023.
AEO is an international standard certification system in which the Korea Customs Service evaluates a company’s regulatory compliance, internal control systems, financial soundness, and safety management standards in accordance with the World Customs Organization (WCO)’s import and export security management standards.
In this review, KT&G Corporation was the only company among those with an “A” rating presented to the quarterly review committee to achieve an “AA” rating through the rating adjustment review.
AEO-certified companies are eligible for benefits related to customs administration, such as simplified customs audits and expedited clearance of imported and exported goods. With this AA rating, KT&G Corporation will receive enhanced benefits compared to the A rating, including a higher percentage of goods exempt from inspection and bonus points during renewal reviews.
KT&G Corporation official stated, “Achieving the AA rating for AEO certification is a result of our efforts to strengthen regulatory compliance and establish a secure import-export management system,” adding, “We will continue to develop our AEO operational capabilities to global standards to further enhance our export competitiveness.”
