[Edaily Reporter Park Sun-Yeop ] NH INVESTMENT & SECURITIES(005940) The 100-Year Life Institute has released a report analyzing the system that reduces old-age pension benefits based on the income-generating activities of National Pension recipients. As the number of recipients who continue working after retirement increases, the report emphasizes the need to review the system’s structure and develop response strategies in advance, given that pension payouts may vary depending on income levels.
NH INVESTMENT & SECURITIES announced on the 9th that the 100-Year Life Research Institute had published Issue No. 128 of “THE100 Report,” a research publication on lifetime asset management. “THE100 Report” is a periodic report by NH INVESTMENT & SECURITIES’ 100-Year Life Research Institute that covers lifetime asset management strategies for a happy 100-year life and major trends in an aging society.

This issue focuses on the “Old-Age Pension Reduction System Based on Earned Income,” examining how the system works and the changes resulting from the recent amendment to the National Pension Act.
The old-age pension reduction system is a mechanism whereby National Pension recipients have a portion of their pension reduced if they engage in income-generating activities above a certain threshold. This report explains the concept of “Value A,” the criterion used to determine whether a reduction applies, and presents simulations showing how the reduction amount can vary depending on earned income and business income.
In particular, it summarized the revised reduction criteria following the system overhaul and highlighted key practical considerations. It also emphasized that when National Pension recipients continue to earn income after retirement—whether through re-employment or self-employment—they must comprehensively consider not only their National Pension benefits but also private pension payments and health insurance premiums.
Kim Dong-ik, Director of the NH INVESTMENT & SECURITIES 100-Year Life Institute, stated, “The pension reduction system based on income-generating activities has long been a sensitive issue among old-age pension recipients.” He added, “This report summarizes the revised reduction criteria and practical considerations resulting from the system reform, and aims to help general investors develop practical retirement income strategies by comprehensively considering the National Pension, private pensions, and health insurance.”
Issue No. 128 of “THE100 Report” is available on the NH INVESTMENT & SECURITIES website under the 100-Year Life Institute section.
