CEO Ju Yong-joong (from left), Heo Seok-kyun, CEO of Heo Young-man Co., Ltd., Chairman Hong Doo-pyo, and Executive Vice President Bang Jeong-ohTV Chosun announced on the 9th, “We presented a plaque of appreciation to cartoonist Heo Young-man at our headquarters in Jung-gu, Seoul, for his seven years of leading the program ‘Foodie Heo Young-man’s White Rice Journey.’” The statement added, “Chairman Hong Doo-pyo, along with TV Chosun executives and the production team, attended the event to reflect on the program’s past seven years and express gratitude for Heo Young-man’s dedication.” On behalf of artist Heo Young-man, who was unable to attend in person due to health reasons, his son, Heo Seok-kyun—CEO of Heo Young-man Co., Ltd.—accepted the plaque. First aired in 2019, “Foodie Heo Young-man’s White Rice Journey” has been beloved as one of South Korea’s leading K-food cultural programs, showcasing simple home-cooked meals and local stories from across the country. Through Heo Young-man’s warm perspective, the show has resonated deeply with viewers for seven years; however, due to his health, it concluded with Episode 353, which aired on June 21. Meanwhile, despite his regret, artist Heo Young-man made a donation to the Community Chest of Korea to express his gratitude to the viewers who had supported the show over the years. Heo Seok-kyun said, “My father often mentioned that he had received more love than he deserved while traveling all over the country through ‘The White Rice Journey’ over the past seven years,” adding, “I was reminded of the warm-hearted neighbors we met along the way, and I want to share that happiness with those in need.” TV Chosun stated, “‘Foodie Heo Young-man’s White Rice Journey’ with artist Heo Young-man was a meaningful journey that shed new light on the value of South Korea’s food culture and the stories of local communities,” adding, “We sincerely thank all the viewers who have loved the program over the past seven years.” News of artist Heo Young-man’s hospitalization broke last month. Last month, Heo Young-man Co., Ltd. explained, “He fell about a month ago and was hospitalized,” adding, “Although he is recovering, it is difficult for him to continue his broadcasting activities, so we decided to conclude ‘Baekban Journey’.” As a result, “Baekban Journey” concluded its season on the 21st of last month with a special episode titled “The Baekban We Loved: 7 Years of Delicious Memories.”
