SBS Plus’s “Time Tracker Seolrok,” which premieres on the 14th, is a historical investigation variety show that fills in the blanks left by historical records. By unearthing the stories hidden behind a single line of history, the show aims to offer unexpected twists and fresh insights that will make us view history in a new light.
Director Jang shared his thoughts on taking on the role of host, saying, “Isn’t there a saying that ‘a nation that forgets its history has no future’?” He added, “When you look closely at history, even though the eras may differ, at the end of the day, it’s all about the stories of people’s lives. I think history holds great significance in helping us understand the present.”
He continued, “I’m approaching this as if I’m studying, underlining lines in the script. If there’s something I’m curious about, I look it up online, and as the main host, I make sure to prepare thoroughly.”

Just as the film *The Man Who Lives with the King* (Wangsa-nam) began with just a few lines from the *Annals of the Joseon Dynasty*, might *Time Tracker Seolrok* also draw inspiration from historical records? Jang Hang-jun replied, “There are many good ideas out there.”
He went on to mention that the Joseon Envoys left a lasting impression on him, saying, “I had no idea such a tremendous story was hidden behind the single line I’d read about the Joseon Envoys in a history book,” and expressed his anticipation for the show.
The production team expressed their unwavering trust, stating, “For us, Director Jang Hang-jun is the only possible main host from start to finish. He is the one-and-only storyteller who can best bring to life the ‘behind-the-scenes historical stories’ that *Time Tracker Seolrok* aims to explore.”
They added, “As a film director and writer by profession, he has an exceptional knack for pinpointing elements that will capture the public’s interest,” noting that “he serves as the ‘ultimate pacesetter,’ drawing viewers deep into the story.”

Meanwhile, Director Jang’s film *Wang Sa-nam* has been a box office hit since its release last February, drawing 16.9 million viewers. This places it second on the all-time box office chart, behind *The Admiral: Roaring Currents* (17.61 million viewers).
