The production team for “The Taste of Prison” announced on the 9th, “We unveiled the full cast lineup and began filming on the 6th.”
“The Taste of Prison” is a comedy film depicting a lighthearted culinary redemption story featuring a star chef who falls from grace overnight and ends up working in a prison kitchen, alongside inmates who create soul-stirring dishes using unimaginable recipes and ingredients.
The cast has been finalized, featuring Lee Sun-bin, Park Ji-hwan, and Bae Hyun-sung, as well as Park Young-kyu, Jo Bok-rae, Jo Dong-in, Lee Sang-jin, and Lee Bong-ryun. Stills from the script reading, released alongside the news of the start of filming, already capture a warm and friendly atmosphere.
Lee Sun-bin plays Jessica, a star chef who has followed only the most elite culinary paths and is not afraid to speak her mind, but finds herself suddenly thrust into a prison kitchen overnight.
Park Ji-hwan plays Jung Bae, the leader of Cell No. 3. Jung Bae constantly clashes with star chef Jessica but creates amazing dishes using unheard-of recipes and mysterious ingredients.
Bae Hyun-sung plays Su-hyun, the newcomer to Cell 3. With a tender heart that evokes a protective instinct and a natural talent for cooking, Su-hyun is emerging as the prison’s Gen Z chef.
Park Young-kyu takes on the role of No Ja, the spiritual leader of Room 3 and a coffee master. Jo Bok-rae has been cast as Yong-tak, a braggart and con artist, generating high expectations. Jo Dong-in plays Ki-chul, a food-loving economic criminal, while Lee Sang-jin portrays Seong-yeol, a longtime friend of star chef Jessica and the CEO of her restaurant. Lee Bong-ryeon plays Sun-young, Jessica’s (played by Lee Sun-bin) older sister, with whom she has a love-hate relationship.

Lee Sun-bin shared her thoughts on the shoot, saying, “I’m looking forward to the time I’ll spend working on *The Taste of Prison*. First and foremost, I hope filming goes smoothly, and I’ll be waiting for the day we can present *The Taste of Prison* to audiences in theaters.”

“The Taste of Prison” is directed by Kim Gu-jeong, who has been recognized for his unique perspective and sophisticated directing style through short films such as “A Mother’s Love Knows No End” and “Sham, Hard Romance.”
