[Edaily Reporter kyoungeun kim ] On the morning of the 10th, the KOSPI opened with a sharp rise of over 3%, buoyed by the strong performance of the New York stock market overnight. News that the Chinese government is moving to allow the purchase of NVIDIA’s artificial intelligence (AI) semiconductors has driven buying across the AI semiconductor sector, pushing the Philadelphia Semiconductor Index (SOX) up by over 3%. Meanwhile, the listing of SK hynix(000660)’s American Depositary Receipts (ADRs) is considered the biggest variable of the day.
According to MP Doctor, as of 9:04 a.m., the KOSPI is trading at 7,562.96, up 271.05 points (3.72%) from the previous trading day.
KOSPI and KOSDAQ Open Higher

Earlier on the 9th (local time), the New York Stock Exchange closed higher as expectations for a return to U.S.-Iran negotiations following mediation attempts by Qatar and Pakistan, news of Micron’s additional $250 billion investment in the U.S., and Meta’s announcement of expanded production and investment in its own AI chips all converged.
The Standard & Poor’s (S&P) 500 Index closed at 7,543.64, up 0.81% from the previous trading day, the Nasdaq rose 1.3% to 26,206.89, and the Dow Jones Industrial Average climbed 0.27% to 52,487.41. The SOX index rose 3.06%, while Micron surged 4.52% and SanDisk jumped 7.6%.
Han Ji-young, an analyst at KIWOOM Securities, said, “While concerns over U.S.-Iran negotiations remain merely noise-like factors that only trigger short-term uncertainty, the factors that had caused stock market volatility—such as the recovery of AI investment expectations and the limited rise in interest rates—are easing.” She added, “Today’s listing of SK hynix ADRs could serve as a catalyst to improve investment sentiment across the KOSPI, including the semiconductor sector.”
On the stock market, retail and institutional investors are driving the index higher with net purchases of 127.5 billion won and 82.2 billion won, respectively. In contrast, foreign investors are net sellers by 211.9 billion won.
Top-market-cap stocks are rising across the board. As of this writing, SamsungElectronics(005930)is trading at 286,000 won, up 2.88%, and SK hynix is trading at 2,262,000 won, up 3.48%.
In addition, all other top-market-cap stocks— SamsungElectroMechanics(009150)(+6.23%), SKSQUARE(402340)(+5.95%), SamsungElectronics(1P)(005935)(+3.50%), KB Financial Group(105560)(+3.21%), SAMSUNG C&T CORPORATION(028260)(+2.64%), Samsung Life Insurance(032830)(+2.30%), HyundaiMotor(005380)(+2.02%), and LG Energy Solution(373220)(+4.47%)—are rising.
As of this writing, the KOSDAQ is trading at 803.55, up 9.55 points (1.20%).
Retail investors and institutions are net buyers of 7.3 billion won and 8.6 billion won, respectively, while foreign investors are net sellers of 15.1 billion won.
The top KOSDAQ stocks by market capitalization are showing mixed trends. ECOPRO BM CO., LTD.(247540)(+4.30%), PSK INC.(319660)(+5.06%), WONIK IPS Co.,Ltd.(240810)(+3.15%), ECOPRO CO., LTD(086520)(+3.02%), Rainbow Robotics(277810)(+2.20%), LEENO Industrial Inc(058470)(+2.57%), and JUSUNG ENGINEERING Co.,Ltd.(036930)(+1.96%) are all rising.
On the other hand, HLB INC.(028300)(-29.89%), Kolon TissueGene, Inc.(950160)(-7.79%), and Alteogen Inc.(196170)(-0.17%) are down.
By sector, air cargo transportation and logistics are surging by around 5%, while non-ferrous metals, telecommunications equipment, electrical equipment, and electronic equipment and devices are rising by 4–5%. In contrast, healthcare equipment and supplies, credit cards, biotechnology, and other bio-finance stocks are falling by 3–5%.
