[Edaily Starin Choi Hee-jae Reporter] Director Hong Sang-soo’s new film, “Nowhere to Look,” which marks actress Kim Min-hee’s return to the screen after a two-year hiatus, has been invited to the Locarno International Film Festival. The Locarno Film Festival is an international film festival held every August in Locarno, Switzerland. Founded in 1946, it is one of the oldest film festivals in the world. It is renowned for showcasing artistic and experimental auteur films. *Nowhere to Look* (2026, International Competition) follows *Suyu Stream* (2024, International Competition / Best Actor Award), *River Hotel* (2018, International Competition / Best Actor Award), *Right Now, Wrong Then* (2015, International Competition / Golden Leopard Award, Best Actor Award), and *Our Sun-hee* (2013, International Competition / Best Director Award), making it the fifth film by director Hong Sang-soo to receive an official invitation to the Locarno Film Festival. In its invitation letter, the Locarno Film Festival stated, “We were all deeply moved by how, through the poetic expressions evoked by the film and the sophisticated techniques that made them possible, every image, every word, and every encounter conveys the meaning, beauty, and complexity of life in a way that seems so effortless and natural.” They added, “This once again demonstrates why Director Hong Sang-soo is one of the great masters of our time.” Still from the film *Nowhere to Look* (Photo courtesy of Jeonwonsa Film Production) “Nowhere to Look” features actors Kim Min-hee, Kwon Hae-hyo, Shin Seok-ho, and Park Mi-so. Additionally, Choi Myung-gil collaborated with Director Hong for the first time on this project. Director Hong handled everything from directing to screenwriting, cinematography, sound recording, and editing. Kim Min-hee was credited as executive producer. The Locarno Film Festival, now in its 79th year, will take place in Switzerland from the 5th to the 15th of next month. “Nowhere to Look” is scheduled to have its world premiere at the Locarno Film Festival and will be released in South Korea in the second half of this year.
