E-MART Co., Ltd.’s Nobland International Inc. to Open First Store in Mongolia… “To Expand Exports by Small Business Owners”
Largest of its kind overseas… Plans to expand to 15 locations within two years and establish a logistics cluster
"New Growth Engine Built on Distribution Know-How and Trust Accumulated Over 10 Years in Mongolia"
[E-Daily Reporter KYUNG GYEYOUNG ] E-MART Co., Ltd. is expanding its presence in Mongolia by opening a No Brand specialty store, following the launch of its hypermarkets there. The company’s strategy is to strengthen its role as a platform for exporting Korean products, given that 70% of No Brand products are manufactured by small and medium-sized enterprises.
E-MART Co., Ltd.(139480)The company announced on the 10th that it would open its first Nobland International Inc. specialty store in Ulaanbaatar, the capital of Mongolia. Minister of Trade, Industry and Energy Kim Jeong-kwan and E-MART Co., Ltd. CEO Han Chae-yang attended the opening ceremony that day.
The first store, located in the Yarmag new town in Ulaanbaatar, spans 836 square meters (253 pyeong)—the largest Nobland International Inc. specialty store overseas. It features approximately 5,000 items, including over 1,100 Nobland International Inc. products, as well as Korean and local Mongolian goods.
E-MART Co., Ltd., which is marking the 10th anniversary of its entry into the Mongolian market this year, was selected for the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy and the Korea Trade-Investment Promotion Agency (KOTRA)’s support program for retail companies expanding overseas. As a result, it signed a business agreement the previous day with its local partner, SKY Hypermarket LLC. Through this agreement, the two companies agreed to cooperate in various areas, including raising awareness of E-MART Co., Ltd. and Nobland International Inc. in Mongolia and expanding sales of Korean products.

E-MART Co., Ltd. viewed the launch of this Nobland International Inc. store as particularly significant, noting that it was driven by the business achievements, brand competitiveness, and local trust it has built in Mongolia over the past 10 years.
Mongolia is an urban-concentrated market where 1.7 million people—half of the country’s 3.5 million population—live in Ulaanbaatar. With long winters and heavy traffic, the region has high demand for “one-stop shopping,” where people seek to handle grocery shopping, dining out, and cultural activities all in one place.
E-MART Co., Ltd. operates six stores tailored to specific commercial districts, ranging from a large-scale store spanning 12,562 square meters (3,800 pyeong) to small- and medium-sized stores covering 1,091 square meters (330 pyeong). It has established itself as Mongolia’s leading retail channel, currently attracting an average of 30,000 visitors per day on weekends. Sky Hypermarket, the local operating company, rose in the Mongolian corporate rankings from 62nd in 2017 to 21st in 2025. As E-MART Co., Ltd.’s brand recognition grows, sales of Nobland International Inc. products in Mongolia exceeded 10 billion won last year, and E-MART Co., Ltd. projects they will rise to over 12 billion won this year.
Starting with its first Nobland International Inc. specialty store, E-MART Co., Ltd. plans to expand its network to 15 stores by 2028 and 50 stores within 10 years, while also establishing a dedicated Nobland International Inc. logistics cluster in Mongolia.
CEO Han Chae-yang stated, “Based on the retail know-how and strong customer trust E-MART Co., Ltd. has accumulated in the Mongolian market over the past 10 years, we have introduced ‘No Brand specialty stores’ as a new growth engine.” He added, “We will continue to support the overseas expansion of high-quality Korean products and steadily expand the ‘K-Retail’ platform so that local customers and domestic companies can grow together.”
