The Seoul International Women’s Film Festival announced on the 10th that it has appointed Lee Yeon as the face of the 28th festival, which will be held from the 20th to the 26th of next month. Lee Yeon will attend the opening ceremony to meet with audiences and promote the values of women’s cinema and the diverse voices the festival aims to highlight.
SIWFFstar is the official ambassador selected annually by the Seoul International Women’s Film Festival. Past SIWFFstars include Kim Ah-joong, Han Ye-ri, EL, Moon Ga-young, Bang Min-ah, Ok Ja-yeon, Son Soo-hyun, and Choi Seong-eun; this year, Lee Yeon—who has worked across a wide range of genres, from short and independent films to commercial movies, dramas, and OTT series—has taken up the mantle.
Lee Yeon has built her own distinctive filmography by delivering impressive performances in a variety of works, including the films *Ivy* and *Island of the Lost*, as well as Netflix’s *D.P.* and *Juvenile Court*, the film *Gil Bok-soon*, and the dramas *A Beneficial Scam* and *The Grand Lady of the 21st Century*.
In particular, the film *A Trip to Gyeongju*, in which Lee Yeon starred, is a winner of the “Pitch & Catch” creative support program at the Seoul International Women’s Film Festival. The fact that the actress’s connection to the festival has led to her appointment as a SIWFF Star adds further significance to the occasion.
