SM warned, “We are also aware that some malicious posters have recently been attempting to evade legal responsibility through various circumvention tactics, such as deleting accounts and posts, deactivating accounts, or setting them to private,” adding, “However, no circumvention tactic can prevent legal liability or punishment.” SM stated, “We have already secured sufficient evidence through real-time monitoring to support legal action, and we are taking strong legal measures without exception against all illegal acts, including such circumvention tactics,” and “To protect the rights and interests of our artists, we are closely reviewing reports submitted by fans through ‘KWANGYA 119,’ constantly monitoring various illegal activities—such as the dissemination of false information, defamation, sexual harassment, deepfakes, and copyright infringement—across various platforms, and continuously collecting and reviewing relevant evidence in collaboration with our legal representatives,” the company explained. SM stated, “Going forward, we will hold those who commit illegal acts while hiding behind anonymity strictly accountable under the principle of ‘zero tolerance,’ mobilizing every possible legal means,” and urged fans to actively report such incidents. “KWANGYA 119” is a website where fans worldwide can report defamation, false information, and fake news regarding SM artists. It has been confirmed that a total of 293,390 reports and tips have been submitted from June 21, 2023, through today (as of 5:30 p.m.). Fans are also unanimously supporting SM’s firm stance. Posts such as “They’re doing a great job” and “I hope there’s no leniency. I hope they learn the most expensive life lesson” have been appearing one after another on X. SM has consistently taken legal action against malicious posts. Last month, the agency announced that prison sentences had been handed down to individuals who produced and distributed deepfake videos featuring its artists.
