On the 11th, her agency, ReH Entertainment, released an interview video via its official social media channels featuring a variety of stories about Hyolyn’s fourth mini-album, “OriginaLyn,” set to be released at 6 p.m. on the 22nd.
When asked about the meaning behind the album title, Hyolyn first explained, “I hope this album showcases the most primal and essential side of me as an artist,” adding, “That’s why the word ‘Original’ came to mind, and I thought it would be great to combine it with my name, ‘Lyn.’”
Regarding the title track “ChecK,” she explained, “‘ChecK’ is mostly a message I’m sending to myself. While it’s a message to myself, I also worked on it hoping it would be a source of strength for many people who, like me, need confidence and self-assurance.”
When asked to describe this album in one word, Hyolyn expressed exceptional confidence, saying, “Hyolyn is finally here.” Regarding the album’s concept, she said, “I listened again to the songs I used to hear during my trainee days, and I loved the music from back then so much. I wanted to bring back that sense of nostalgia.”
She went on to describe it as a “2026-style Y2K pop concept.” Regarding the choreography for the title track “Check,” she revealed a small hint, saying, “Just like the song title, there are a lot of ‘check’ gestures,” thereby heightening anticipation for the new song.
Toward the end of the video, a question from Kim Yeon-kyung—a former volleyball player and Hyolyn’s close friend—caught viewers’ attention. When Kim Yeon-kyung asked, “What does music mean to you?” Hyolyn revealed her deep affection for music, replying, “Music is like air to me.”
Finally, Hyolyn shared her sincere feelings with fans, saying, “I’ve always felt a pang of guilt and unease because I didn’t have anything to give my fans, so I’m happy to be able to present this album as a gift.” She added, “Since these songs tell my story, I hope you’ll listen carefully and interpret the messages I’ve put into them.”
Hyolyn’s comeback comes about seven months after her single “Standing On The Edge” in December of last year. This marks her first full-length album release in about four years, following her third mini-album “iCE” in July 2022.
Hyolyn will release “Originalin” on the 22nd at 6 p.m. via various music streaming sites to reconnect with her fans.
