Episode 764 of KBS2’s “Immortal Songs,” airing on the 11th, will be themed “Kim Tae-won Special” to commemorate the 40th anniversary of “Buhwal,” a living legend in South Korea’s rock music scene. Kang Seung-yoon, along with Kim Shin’s Band, Yuk Joong-wan Band, Lee Ye-ji, Lee Seung-hyup & Yoo Hoi-seung (N.Flying), and Jo Jazz, will take the stage to deliver an unforgettable performance.
On this episode, Kang Seung-yoon returns to “Immortal Songs” for the first time in three years. Having appeared on the show just before enlisting, he joked, “I earned a ticket to the King of Kings round before enlisting, but my enlistment notice came so quickly that I couldn’t participate. Doesn’t that mean the ticket is still valid?”
While sharing stories from his military service, Kang Seung-yoon recounted a heartwarming anecdote about BTS’s Jin. He said, “Jin was serving as an assistant instructor at the training camp where I was assigned.” He went on to reveal that although they weren’t close, Jin reached out to him first upon hearing the news of his enlistment.
Kang Seung-yoon said, “Jin made a sweet offer, saying, ‘Let’s be training instructors together,’ and promised to share some insider tips on how to get selected,” adding, “I trained hard, full of hope, but fate wasn’t on my side, so I ended up not becoming a training instructor.”

He continued, “I graduated from the training camp at the top of my class, and Jin said, ‘Aren’t you working too hard? Don’t push yourself too much,’ and handed me a box of chocolates as he was passing by.” He added, “Since trainees weren’t allowed to use the PX at the time, I became a hero in the barracks,” once again expressing his gratitude.
It is reported that Kang Seung-yoon expressed a strong desire to participate in the “Buhwal 40th Anniversary Special,” saying, “I’d like to sing at least one song as a guest vocalist on Buhwal’s new album.” Having chosen “The Last Concert” as his performance piece, Kang Seung-yoon is said to have captivated the stage with his profound interpretation of the song and explosive vocal prowess, earning high praise from Kim Tae-won. With Kang Seung-yoon having moved the original artist, attention is now focused on whether he can claim the championship in his return to “Immortal.”
Kang Seung-yoon released his second full-length album, “PAGE 2,” last November and promoted with the title track “ME (美).” He continues to be active as a solo artist.
“Immortal” airs on the 11th at 6:05 p.m.
